Me and my guild defended Redbriar today (party of 5). We were nearly all the time outmanned, but we manage to defend it for 4 big attack attempts. But after 4 hours of setting up the “perfect” siege defence, upgrading tower and escorting doylaks, green team decides to build 3 trebs at vista on the little island in the middle. Our treb inside the tower behind the supply roof cant hit them, and soon all our siege is gone and tower is lost.

Is there a way to counter that treb tactic when you are heavily outnumbered?

it sounds like you did. you repelled 4 attempts and they finally had to use trebs from the ruins to get in.

you probably could have hit their trebs if you had trebs just down the ramp from the lord’s room, but trebs there would have been vulnerable to aoe from the ground, so you’d need a lot of arrow carts. if you were outmanned you probably wouldn’t have had enough supply to build all that siege (or to man it).

skill counts for a lot, but it’s no substitute for numbers. it sounds like you did well with what you had, and slowed them down a lot. hopefully your teammates were able to take stuff elsewhere while you kept your enemies busy there at Redbriar.

I have managed to hit those trebs with our own treb on top of the supply depot on the roof. Try that next time.

Your complaint is invalid, you can hit the trebs setup anywhere around the vista, someone told me off these super spots that can’t be hit near the vista. Untrue the RS treb operator took my treb out in 4 hits a couple of weeks ago. Next time use a friend to range your treb shot before any enemy shows up.

Yes we did. But what if everyone decides to use trebs at vista. What I meant was I want to be able to put up a fight for those attacks aswell.

On a patch day, with new PvE content, Blacktiders doesnt play WvW Our score were around 45-55 at the time of thier final attack.

I will. Now I placed it right behind and I didnt see any damage done when I tried to counter.

It wasnt meant as a complaint, more of a strategical question. My tone might have been affected on how helpless I feelt after failing to counter the attack.

You can treb them with a supieror treb ontop of the supply shed, but you have to have that treb down, or else your doomed.

To be honest in situations like that there is not much to be done, with out reinforcements.

The best option is to go hit those trebs with AoE from below, but with only 4 that is not a good option.

Eventually a severly out number side will lose a tower, but pushing them off 4 times is nothing to shake a stick at.

If a 5 man group could hold out indefinately in rebriar against huge numbers it would be fairly broken.

Seriously, counter trebing a treb on that vista is very hard. First you have to have a treb built on the top of the supply camp in Briar. Second you have to hit the treb on the vista perfectly. Because the treb is so high up in the air if you miss a direct hit most of the splash is waisted on the ground down below. Sounds like you did pretty good though, because usually you have to skirmish out and take that treb down with troops.

My Elementalist do like 2% dmg to trebs with a meteor shower oO and yea, thats what I tried to do yesterday. Would have taken one treb down after 50 respawns.

It can be hit from several spots inside Briar. It hits from both top of supply house and the grassy area behind the supply house.

If you want to go open field, an arrow cart is much, much better than any player attack.

Is nobody going to say that a 5 man in a tower shouldn’t be able to have held off a zerg that has enough people to build 3 trebs?

I would say you won, they had to build trebs to take your tower. You and your defensive skills were superior, great job on that.

Your question remains valid though, there should be a possible countertreb and people in this thread have given you the locations for that.

I like it if people put trebs on that island, gives me something to kill and I don’t even have to break walls to get to it. If they are up those stones near the vista, get some targetable Sanctuaries and some mesmer pulls, that really annoys them.

Sure you can. The trick is to not worry about a direct hit, because it’s possible that the line your aimed in will be above or below with a single power tick. Aim instead for the ruins themselves that they build on. You have a lot of play then to turn and find the sweet spot where splash will to the work for you.

Also, it’s easier for them to zero in on you than for you to zero in on their treb, so you have to make sure your counter treb is up first and you are watching for them to build theirs.

I used to think the trebs in the Bay camp were impossible to take without entering the camp. Then someone showed me treb spots on the south Bay outer wall that can hit them. I haven’t seen a single siege spot that can’t be hit with counter siege, though sometimes you have to build your counter siege quickly in the open field.
