I agree, SiNoS. I’m hoping it’s not permanent but if it is I’ll just have to buy another copy I suppose. My highest is only level 20 so it wouldn’t be a huge loss and everyone I play with that I enjoy playing with are on Skype so I won’t really lose anything. It’s just odd. I guess I’ll find out around 5pm later today if it’s really permanent.
SiNoS, what do you mean by that exactly? It’s perma but with a timer? Why would they add a timer to a perm ban? And if it is Permed then why did I receive no notification about it being changed?
I was quoting a video on Youtube about this guy named ChoZo who ends up saying F*** over 260 something times in 10 minutes. However, I did not directly say to anyone “F*** you, I’ll f***ing kill you” or anything of that sort. If ANet keeps logs and I’m sure they do (at least of public Map chat) then they can check them and see that I in no way directly used language of that sort towards anyone.
Also to clarify, I did not quote every word he said. Just the funnier parts and I even had people chiming in with me about it via Map chat. I’m not saying they should be banned too but I wasn’t the only ‘offender’
I also agree with Alucard. The profanity filter is there for a reason and on by default. If you turn it off you subject yourself to some colorful language. I agree hate speech and death threats should not be allowed and be bannable but I didn’t even receive a notice from GMs or anything. No warning at all. It was a straight up ban.
I would hope so. I think it would be very silly on ANet’s side to ban for something as mediocre as quoting a youtube video. Yes that said youtube video had excessive swearing but it was all in quotes and was in no way directed towards anyone.
That’s strange though. The original screenshot I took never said permanent.
This also was a first offense and I used no death threats or hate speech.
Let’s leave any “This is what you get” replies at the door. I’m quite aware why I was banned and all I’m curious about is whether this odd ‘error’ actually means permanent or if it’s really an error. I asked support about this but received no reply.
