just to provide an update, adding the “-repair” on the end and delteing the local.dat file, fixed my problem i had happy gamming all weekend long

hahaha!!! just thought i should give you an update and pass along my thanks again

it sounds like your GW2 shortcut is in some kind of repair / check mode that is re-downloading the entire game, either that or the place that you have the game installs has an automatic deletion of files set to happen..

check that your Gw2 icon does not have “-repair” at the end of the file properties?

otherwise you may need some more specific help, eg: i’d look at initially where the game is downloaded to first, and find out if you have files that are being dumped into the recycle bin first??

i am also experiencing this problem
the splash screen will sit for 35 mins just saying downloading. and then it suddenly finishes only to have to download another new patch that’s tiny yet took me 3 hours.. sigh once in game i was placed into over flow maps every where i went….

i will try deleting the local.dat file
as i’ve already restarted modem so that’s not going to be a great help, if that doesn’t help i will attempt to disable firewall / antivirus.
any other suggestions or people having this splash screen problem.?

i’m extreemily new to WvW – i do hope someone can help me out, i’m on YAKS bend – so i understand if you’re from green / blue you won’t want to help / give the more incorrect advise, however being so new to WvW i’ve picked up a bit. in a way basically -find the blue arrow and follow it get wiped do it all over again-

what i do want to ask or is to seek advise on is…
when we’re faced with impending doom aka. a giant army running towards us or us running into a big fight….
how the heck do you know what you’re doing? is there something i’m missing: the fight begins and i’m dead…

i’m an 80 ranger, with exotic beserker gear i believ? and beserker bow / warhorn / axe – though i’ve been advised to maybe make the swap to sword….

i just have trouble even knowing if i’m attacking an enemy or if i’m helping out at all. is there something you can give as advise when a big battle starts. make sure i do X? or try THIS? just when battle starts my screen fills up with names and all i seem to do is dodge roll back to try select a target and attack and then it’s out of range and i’m dead… just looking for i suppose – game / fight advise??? there is so much that happens what should i focus on trying to do?

yeah i’m an avid mouse user and keyboard user..

whilst fighting use “wads” – however i rigth click mouse and constantly “strafe” most of the time to the “right” (D) and use mouse to ‘scroll around’ map and target facing me , then use left – pinky, rin, mid fingers for skills 1-4 (5) is my panic button… and then utilities are on my mouse..

though now i want to sawp strafes to (D & A) after reading this SMART… hahahahaha

oh and runnign normally W or® and mouse to move not turn / strafe keys hahaha… i’m strange like that though….

Sounds as though you know exactly what you’re after and what you want! Which is good, I prefer to know who we’re recruiting into a guild than mass spam /m chat invites!We are a guild of what appears to accommodate your requirements. And I can say with certainty that we have members online at all spans of 24 hour periods.

I am not a high ranking officer or leader, more am I a recruiter. I am however like you in that I don’t want to talk to a recruiter as they will say anything. we have an active chat (voice) that you’re welcome to join us on for an evening to see if you’d like to hang out with us or party up for world events (Tuesday nights are our meta event / Guild bounty runs for commendations only. – guild missions and guild bounty’s are run fully through on Saturdays – Tuesday evenings are reserved for dungeons and bounties for those looking for the commendations or wvw / pvp play!
I can say that we have the ‘same’ members on when I play often bar weekends when everyone logs in at odd hours as it’s the weekend no work. We understand people have life and don’t demand you log in online every day / every week. Representing the guild is obviously very helpful for guild influence to run the guild bounties and such, however we do have members that don’t represent… we just think they are outcasts and shun them!!!! – hahahahaha we do enjoy a joke and I believe… I haven’t met anyone else yet that is younger than me, (24) so we are a mature guild however we do know how to joke around – as per the shunning you comment if not representing) – wow now this is just getting worse
- I am a massive appreciator for dad jokes and puns so if that’s not for you. Well no big loss. I will be in touch if you are online this evening I am also Ausssie – NSW bound so we should have similar hours

ahhhhhh ^ sooo if condition damage is more the way to umm ‘not play’ a ranger, what are th other options? as form what i see the bows your first ‘skill’ is cause bleedign wich is condition damaged. i would have thought cond’ would be pushing out the most damage.

what are the other options to be using. ?
my trait skills are currently set in

Skirmish – the one at the top,
survive – the one that give toughness and cond damage?
and the one that give me + vitality – boon duration? i think it is…

what are the other obvious choices for ranger to be making? should i be going beast master like in WoW. all point to pets? so your pet is a tank and you try to do damage?

i suppose what i’m really after is a good damage build for a ranger only interested in using a bow? – build including procs on bows? and procs on armor?

^ now THAT is probably a very good thought! didn’t even think of it..

personally i’m not all that keen on uhh vs’ing other real people, i’m interested in story line and the odd dungeon every now and then, mainly kill animals do quests exploration, and as i said the odd dungeon i believe they are called? or instances?

well i couldnt’ find anywhere for ‘new’ members, so i gave up and decided to inroduce my self!

Abraxix Storm – ranger with a ‘hawk’ i think or a ‘eagle’ not sure it does bleeding with F2 so that’s helpful..

few questions i suppose!
i’m only interested in using a bow…. (my choice no particular reason yes i understand swaords and a horn and stuff is probably better but i can’t help liking the bow)

so clearly: i want to use condition damage on my bow!
what i would like to know, armor: condition + vitality? or power + precision?
or what is a good combination?

what are peoples suggestions?
