I know this has been suggested before but i urge you to read this and tell me I am wrong…
Mounts ARE MISSING from GW2.
They are not purposely excluded for any good reason.
Some points for exclusion I have seen across the web include:
Walking -taking in the scenery
There are way-points
Mounts would Ruin the experience
Waypoints are great and I understand that this is the current solution to mounts, but here is why they are not a good Replacement and would be a better alternative (Why limit the possibilities).
Intelligent humanoides have always found faster ways to travel. Horseback, Cars, Motorbikes, Trains, Airplanes, Rockets.
Why would only one of five intelligent races have developed a way to travel the world faster. This is damaging the “Fantasy reality” of the game for me. This would not be the case. ( I am currently watching planet of the apes… even the monkeys are riding horseback.)
Mounts in my opinion would encourage exploration, I often find myself thinking… I really cant be bothered to run the the top of the map. Especially on a large race such as a Norn or Charr as they feel particularly slow.
It would also help lower level players conserve money if they wish to not spend it on traveling using Azura Gates…
