I normally am opposed to the idea of using a standard console controller for PC games, but in the case of action style games I feel that controllers can feel superior to mouse/keyboard setups. In most other MMOs It was never a big deal because I scarcely had to move while I was using skills. In GW2 I am finding it difficult to access certain skills based on how I am moving in combat and would love to utilize a game controller to be able to (for instance) cast my 2 skill while moving forward and strafing left at the same time. This may just be a problem I alone am facing, but if not I would be interested in seeing what problems others are facing.
The way I would set up a controller interface would be like this:(360 controller as a model)
Left joystick: move forward/back strafe left/right double tab dodge/click to dodge
right joystick: move the camera click to target next enemy
D-pad: f1-f4 up/left/right/down
A: slot 1 – “F” Key (loot/gather/talk) when appropriate
x: slot 2
y: slot 3
b: slot 4
RT: slot 5
LT: slot 6
RB: slot 7
LB: slot 8
LB+RB: slot 9
LT+RT: elite/slot 0
This is just an idea, others might think a different layout would be better this what I would do for my gameplay. Also there would need to be an option to cast targeted offensive AOE abilities at enemy location, otherwise they could just be cast on me which might be worthless.
