Checking in; wanted to thank everyone for their input.
Looks like I’ll be giving elementalist a go!

Now here’s hoping I’m not too terrible at it.

Just grabbed GW2 over the weekend, and I’m stuck at selecting a class.

Generally speaking; I gravitate to ranged classes. More often then not; casters.
I prefer sustainable classes with little to no downtime; DoT play is a plus.

I’ve got my eyes on the Necro and Elementalist currently. (Mesmer seems far to clone-dependent for my liking, but is still at least intriguing.)

From the brief material I’ve been able to find; Necros seem to complain heavily about a lack of mobility, and aren’t to high on the sustain damage. I come from playing a ‘lock on wow, so the “meta” or deathshroud style play isn’t wholly unfamiliar. I would however, like to pick a class that can function at least on the median in all facets of the game. (Seeing a lot of; “This works in PvE, but not PvP. Avoid this class in WvW.” ETC)

I’ve been a lock in wow, a chanter in aion, an mystic in terra, and an inquisitor in swtor.

Enjoy:
-sustain
-support
-hybrid / multirole in group

Dislike:
-low mobility
-low utility
-being lower tier, “weak” class in some facet of the game.

What class should I give a shot to first?
