WvW and the Heart of Thorns Release

Please please please do not go through with the change to wvw reset time. This change will take away the 7 hour reset raids that are a personal high point in my week. The last day of the week is irrelevant in almost every matchup. One of the best parts about reset is that it is so full of groups to fight. But the main wvw guilds are not going to be able to field Friday night numbers on a Saturday morning. Very few guilds are going to be spamming portals, or even be there for reset at all. What is currently the most anticipated night with the greatest player turnout is going to take the place of what has been known as snooze through Thursday.
As wvw players, my guild and those like us have built up a high tolerance for being given things we never asked for, but this change will have a hugely detrimental effect to the culture that has developed around the game mode. Please reconsider this change.

Mesmer Portal Bug

AeonTheAvaricious.3640

When playing mesmer in wvw I am not able to blink while I have a portal on the ground. If I do, then my portal goes into cooldown for the same amount of time as my blink skill. The portal does not disappear, but I am unable to open it for roughly 20 seconds after blinking. This bug was more severe before the recent patch. It used to be that portal was put in to cool down after using any utility skill on mesmer. Please fix this as portal bugs have been plaguing me for months now. I love love love a good portal bomb but I have not been able to do them at all. It is particularly frustrating that it seems not everyone has this problem. Please enable me to portal my guild to glory once more! I have video recordings of the bug in action but it seems I cannot attach that here.

Stab issue really a L2P issue

AeonTheAvaricious.3640

I’ll start by saying I am a well known wvw player on a NA T1 server, and have been in T1 exclusively for more than a year. It really kittenes me off to see people claiming that the stab changes promote higher skill play. From everything I have seen, these are people who are casual at best in wvw though I suspect most do not participate in any organised wvw at all. Stability is not a wonder boon nor was it a press to win button before the patch. What stability is, is a boon that enables organised groups to include a purposeful frontline. It requires party discipline to maintain stability for even a 40-50% up time during fights. Like every other boon, stability is vulnerable to boon stripping skills such as necro’s corrupt boon and mesmer’s null field. Stability also does nothing to counter movement inhibiting conditions such as chill, cripple, and immobilize and the recent changes have not done anything to remove these vulnerabilities. These changes in wvw have fundamentally changed the play style of the game mode, which is not inherently bad, but what we have now is quite simply not nearly as fun as what we had before. Smaller groups of players are now forced to join the map zerg because they do not have a reasonable chance of doing anything but get run over now if they encounter a larger enemy group. I understand that with the expansion coming there is an expectation of added utility that may affect the issues wvw is faced with after this recent patch, such as the introduction of the boon resistance and a new heavy class. But it makes no sense to begin introducing nerfs now while withholding the balances until a later date. GW2 is a game that I love and I relish the time I am able to spend in wvw. This most recent update has significantly disrupted how myself and those like me get enjoyment from the game and I truly hope something will be done to fix the problem soon.

What Stab has done to GvG/fight guilds

The stability changes discourage 15-25 man skill group play in wvw while they encourage uncoordinated zerg blobbing at a range. Wvw is now more complicated and less fun. These changes are senseless and detrimental to the game.

[vX] WvW Guild on TC Late NA

Vindication in Death [vX] is recruiting WvW players on Tarnished Coast. We run Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday starting at 6pst/9est, and Mondays starting at 7pst/10est. Our rallies go on for as long as we have sufficient numbers and typically last at least three hours. We have been experiencing attrition as some of our members are on extended breaks from Guild Wars or have left the game and we are now actively recruiting to get back up to our desired nightly rallies of ~25. We have been part of the Tarnished Coast server for eight months and are a well established and recognized part of TC. We currently use the TC server mumble for voice communications. As such, we require that all our members be in mumble while we are in WvW. It is highly suggested that members have a microphone, but one is not required.

We are currently recruiting all classes and it is highly encouraged for members to be able to play more than one class. We accept veterans of WvW as well as those who are new to WvW with a desire to improve. We run frequent guild training exercises outside of WvW that everyone is encouraged to attend to become familiar with our tactics in a no pressure environment. We have members that are highly knowledgeable with all classes and are always willing to work with members one on one regarding builds, gear, and play style. vX is a WvW guild and as such it is expected that all members who are online during a scheduled rally be running with the guild. We do not have a mandatory attendance rate, but it is expected that if a member is going to be offline for a while, whatever the reason, to let someone know in game or post on our guild forums to alert us to the fact. We do also do pve in our off hours (dungeons/fractals/world bosses) and have members that are willing to teach pve content as well. We have all guild missions unlocked and currently run missions starting at 7pst/10est on Thursdays.

Disclaimer Discussion over comms often becomes risqué so anyone interested in vX should be open to some colorful chat, but there is a line that can be crossed and we strictly disallow anyone from creeping on our members.

You can reach us in game by contacting myself as Draeon or my co-leader as B Team Commander.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

I would very much like to see guild halls instanced based out of different locations of Tyria as opposed to hosting them all out of a single central location. Guild halls would be of much more significance if they came with some history . Examples of such could be a guild hall located in an ancient barracks along the Great Wall of Ascalon, or a guild hall hidden deep underground in the twisting caverns of Mount Malestrom, or (my personal favorite) a guild hall based out of the Wizard’s Tower in Kessex Hills.

Feedback/Questions: The Wardrobe System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

AeonTheAvaricious.3640

I am concerned that with the implementation of the wardrobe, a-net is forgetting about people with fractal skins. As someone who has been doing fractals since they were introduced in game I have all but 2 fractals skins and multiples of most that I do have. With these duplicates I draw the envious glares of those around me as do such things as dual wield my fractal daggers, or have a fractal sword on every character that can use it. It would be quite sad for me to see the prestige of those duplicate skins merely disappear with the introduction of the wardrobe. I also wonder what will happen to all the unused skins I have sitting in the inventory of a storage character. As a player of GW1, I am nostalgic of the times when players could spend hours of their time to clear a dungeon only to be subjected to the whims of rng with the small hope that you might be rewarded with something unique and prestigious. Fractals is the only such dungeon in GW2 that offers the same consistent torment with a slight chance of reward that always makes me come back for more. Perhaps I am just a sucker for thinking that all my time spent in the game’s only end game dungeon would give me something to brag about. With this update I find that I have no reason to continue doing fractals as I already have my characters in full ascendeds, I have 2 bank tabs worth of unused fractal rings, and I will no longer be able to continue to amass my duplicate skins. I am sure that I am not the only player in this situation and I have to wonder what a-net is going to do, if they are going to do anything, to keep players such as myself who enjoy elite end game dungeons interested. One thing that could perhaps be done is to at least make it so that once the wardrobe comes out players cannot be rewarded the same skin twice. That would at least allow me to get the final 2 skins that I do not have, and would prevent everyone who does fractals from getting a useless reward when they already have that skin.

So it seems that the only type of infusion you can put in the second infusion slot on a fully upgraded Fractal Capacitor are the new infusions that drop from chests in FoTM, and the ones with greater agony resist that can be crafted from those. I did not understand this when I made my last post on this thread. It still does not make any sense though that I cannot fill the second infusion slot with a versatile simple infusion which only costs 75 fractal relics and which has been my source of agony resistance since the release of FoTM. Instead I seem to be expected to fill that slot with the new type of agony infusion which can be very expensive.

Thief, dodgeroll, infiltrator arrow

I can confirm that I too have encountered this bug as of recently. It occurs when trying to dodge immediately after using infiltrator’s arrow, but it does not happen every time. I too request that this be fixed.

The capacitor shows that it has 2 infusion slots, but when I go to add a second infusion I do not get the option to fill the second slot like I do with 2 handed ascended weapons. Instead when I try to fill the second slot a message asks me if I want to replace the infusion on the first slot. So I am stuck with 5 less agony resistance than I had before I upgraded.

I can confirm that you can now upgrade the fractal capacitor again as I made mine just now. However, it does not have it’s inherent +5 agony resistance anymore. They seem to have fixed one bug and created another.

I don’t usually post on these forums, but I thought I’d give it a go. We on SBI are aware that we most likely are not ready to go against the core T1 servers. Honestly, that does not matter to us. We are here to play our best and see how far we can go.

There has been a lot of talk in game that the servers we are facing are tanking on purpose to avoid the Gold League. If that is true for anyone then I ask that you come at us with everything, as we are trying to get an accurate idea of where we stand. Like many servers, SBI has its share of fair weather players, uplevels, and inexperienced undergeared players who do not get on Teamspeak. Despite this, we are continuing to move forward as a server as best we can. There are many guilds and players on SBI that have not been content over the past few weeks of blowouts, and have been improving themselves in preparation for a matchup like the one we have now. As a member of SBI I can say we are thrilled to have a chance to prove ourselves against such worthy opponents as FA and Mag.

As a member of Abys I would like to ask that we not be underestimated even though we are newcomers to SBI, and come from a lower tiered server such as Darkhaven. As I am sure any FA who were in their bl last night can attest, we love a good fight and can do surprising things with our numbers.

Human magic- the next evolution

As for humanity, there’s a lot of theories on how powerful they can truly become. My personal theory? The current pantheon started off as mortals, too, and usurped their positions from former gods from a distant world that’s now lost between the pathways of the Mists.

Grenth for sure is at least a second generation God as he forced out Dhuum. I am led to believe that Balthazar too is not the first God of War due to the struggle between him and his brother Menzies, and the story we get in the Fissure of Woe in GW1.
