Choosing an appropriate world to transfer

You might want to keep in mind that nowadays the main impact of server is on how WvW goes for you. Everything else and you’ll be playing along people from other home servers than yours all mixed up on the megaservers.

This means that if you play on EU, even on an English-speaking server, there will be times when you will find people speaking German/Spanish/French/Russian/etc in mapchat, because of how the megaserver prioritized for this one map. It does also mean you no longer have to worry about being on a server that’s not big on PvE/world bosses/dungeons if it’s what you want to do, because you can be matched with people from other servers very easily and without having to do anything for it.

So basically if you do switch, check server rankings if WvW is of interest to you, else just pick one of the non-language specific ones, you should be fine.

It came to my attention that Megaservers are region locked — is this still the case? Will I be able to play with my NA friends if I am in the EU servers?

Hi everyone!

I play in the NA servers, but I am living in Europe. Transferring to an Europe server would be greatly beneficial: better ping, more people in peak hours, easier scheduling. But since I have characters in my account and cannot delete them all so I can choose a world, I am stuck with paying Gems to see if that server would be appropriate for me.

I also cannot log into a server and see how things are like — guesting is only enabled in the same region, so that’s out of the equation.

I don’t want to transfer into a server then find out that there are people not speaking my own language, if the benefits of ping are not that high, or the activities in that server do not really fit with my objectives.

Is there any way I can be certain that the world I am transferring to is the right one for me? Any sources of information about worlds I can read up so I can make an informed decision?

Binding the command key

Is there any way I can bind the command key (and another key, in combination, like ctrl+3) to an action, like a weapon skill? In Windows I can do it with alt, but pressing option makes it difficult to use.
