We where nerfed on poison damage by a lot and our bleeds also deal little less damage.

Ah you are talking about pre-patch?

Not material really . Prior to the patch one stack of poison made no difference from 10 damage wise. I really do not see the poison as a damage source unless I have a build applying more poisons. I used it then as an inhibit to heal and that has not changed. The damage per tick loss is not all that great (130 per tick with 2k condition damage) and can be made up for rather easily with another stack of poison and then exceeded.

If i wnated a poison build i would take spider venom and dagger training.

As to bleeds , I am having no problems applying bleed stacks and get 2 k ticks with regularity. My weaponset remains the primary source of bleeds, the trap bleeds are secondary.

Durations of both did in fact go up after the patch and I prefer those longer durations.
Vulnerabilty stacks applying to poison and bleed ticks also made up for some of the loss in the formula and is applied when traps triggered.

Yes, I’ve been seeing similar duration extension on mine, it’s been great.

If I might ask, what kind of weapons/sigils you running to get such high bleeds? They sound quite fun.

Even if there’s been a nerf to poison damage it’s still possible to take someone down if you pay attention and position yourself correctly. Doesn’t make it any less fun to experiment with!

It is good but now it just seems lame lol back to max dps

To each their own! Won’t stop people from wanting to try out alternatives and confer with those who like stuff other than the meta.

I posted an OP build last week for condition theif and i was so keen to be on that other level, now it seems kind p since pugs ruin it for me.

That’s understandable, hopefully you can adapt the build with current update! I’m sure folks would appreciate it.

I play P/P trapper thief in a condition build.

P/p obviously lacks stealth for that sneak attack but using trappers runes and trappers respite along with hide on steal I have as much stealth as I need.

I like using either 2 or three traps. Needle trap a staple and then Shadow trap and or Tripwire. While currently bugged one can get 15 stacks of might off the Shadow trap which makes for a very nice boost to conditions. (this added …) -snip-

Thank you for such a comprehensive run down! I appreciate you sharing your insights!

I’ve still been exploring the finer points of the build, been running P/D -Shortbow with Dire sigils and Trapper runes, working on getting condi trinkets set up too. (Though I’m starting to lean toward other weapons just for fun) Traited to confuse on steal and torment on interrupts, as well as quickness on side strikes.

I admit I’ve never thought to use some of the shadowtrap techniques (or stacking them on top of another) but that is an awesome setup! I enjoy locking down folks with immob via the Trappers Respite and Needle Trap, works wonders in a team setup!

There not enough trapper theives around. What would be fun is to have 3 work in conjunction saturating an approach/area with traps.

That would be deliciously wicked to pull off. I can practically see the QQ now.

Ever since the update I’ve been messing with Trapper runes and some of the trap traits and have been enjoying the strategic gameplay that comes out of it. Figured I’d start a thread and see who’s like minded here.

Who here likes playing trapper thief? What sort of builds/setups do you run to have fun with it or make it viable? What sort of tricks do you all have to mess with your enemy’s heads/control the playing field?

I’d love to hear what you all have to say and what you all find fun/useful!

Aftertouch's OC Gold Commissions

Evening folks! Feeling rather up for some sketching to practice technique, and am in need of funds for some ingame purchases I’d like to buy.

So bust sketch commissions are open!

Slots:
(1): Buns-of-Men (completed!)
(2): Ciaranthered
(3): unquestionableimaginarium
(4):
(5):
(6):
(7):
(8):
(9):
(10):

I’ll draw a simple bust sketch of your Guild Wars 2 character, either in pencil or ink style, with simple shading and color ramping to make it look pretty.

If you’re interested, feel free to send an email to

aftertouchd@gmail.com

with your ingame name. Once I get your contact, I’ll slot you into the list and ask you for your character’s ref material/description / choice of style and pose!

Price is 100 gold per piece. I’m generally able to do all the races, just am not so great at Charr.

Once we agree on the content of the sketch, I’ll do a rough lay in and send it to you. If you like the rough, you can then send half the gold and I’ll finish the sketch and send you a final wip screenshot via email. If you like the final product, I’ll send you a fullsize png via email in return for the other half of the gold.

I will be opening up 10 slots, since they’re relatively quick to make. These are first come, first serve, I am unsure if I’ll end up doing anything like a waitlist atm, unfortunately!

I will not do any NSFW or graphic material, and I reserve the right to decline a commission if I am unable to take it on.

I’ll work as diligently as I can to finish up sketches within a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks for looking, and if you have questions, feel free to hit up my inbox! I’ve attached some examples for reference of what you can expect!

Rising ire against Sylvari

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Aftertouch.5437

There are actually signs of this in-game already. Speak to Captain Tokk at the Bloodtide Coast refugee camp (pro-Sylvari), and there’s one refugee at the Lornar’s Pass refugee camp who’s hostile to Sylvari. Also, if you speak to Ellyna Graidy as a Sylvari, her reaction is… well, I’ll let you see for yourself.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Those are actually the npcs I was thinking of when I made the thread! Yeah, I’m kind of chomping at the bit for more.

A friend of mine has a tradition he calls “Dad joke Fridays”, as it is Friday I thought I’d share the bad joke this thread put into my mind:

At a secretive meeting of the largest anti Sylvari guild the imposing Charr president stands before the group and silences the room with an ominous growl.

“I call this meeting of the Dedicated Union of Meat Based Races Of Tyia to order. Over the last couple of hours I have been made aware of some disturbing information that needs to be addressed immediately. So before we get to item 1 on the agenda, Finding a better acronym, we will act on this. It has come to my attention that details of our meetings have been passed on to sylvari within hours. These are details that could only be known by someone attending these meetings.”

“You don’t mean…?”

“Yes, someone in this room is a plant!”

(If you hate me now, you only have yourself to blame for reading past the words “dad joke”)

I have to admit, I cackled harder than I should have. Well played sir.

So with the destruction of the city and the grieving citizens naturally looking for a scapegoat to latch on to, it’s been interesting and a little unsettling to see the reactions coming out from the different quarters, such as folks condemning the bigots and folks being racist toward the salads.

I’m hesitantly curious to see just how much ANet’s going to let this wave of discontent rise against the Sylvari and just how bad things could get and what actions could come of it.

Mostly because something like this obviously might hit close to home for people playing and plot points like this could easily backfire if the writers don’t handle it correctly.

At the very least it makes playing a sylvari a heck of a lot more engaging atm and possibly so for the near future. What do you all think?

If Anet does go through with this, I wouldn’t mind. Racism is a subject that myself and many other Americans in this game would be familiar with. Everyone in the US has been discriminated at one time or another. Plus, It’s appropriate to use non-human races to tell the very sensitive human stories. Star Trek did this and succeeded. That show came out when there were major racial tensions between white supremacists and African Americans. That show succeeded in tearing down barriers and brought people together.

To pull this off successfully, the writers in all of the committees will need to RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!

If Anet goes in this direction, I wish them happy trails and good luck! I hope it succeeds!
….

Wow, that was a great response. I agree fully with what you said, and I’d honestly forgotten Star Trek has done such things in the past with current event/ human issues. I’d be right there with you in supporting Anet if they do decide to shine a well-informed light on the topic!

So yeah, they kind of do have a reason to be hated and carefully watched.

Carefully watched? Yes. Hated? No. Scarlet was the cause of all this suffering and pain (and a council that mass effect’s would be proud of). One person should not be a representative of all people in that race/group/ethnicity. I’d also like to point out Zojja fought influence from a dragon champion and succeeded. If anything I’d be wary about the nightmare court and trying to warn Marrik’s people of the coming threat.

I concur, I get the feeling the Nightmare Court’d jump on this chance to turn public opinion against the Pale Tree like a fly to honey. I’m hoping Malyck does show up, it’d be a wonderful tie-in to the personal story.

I actually suggested that they should do something like this a while back. We’ve seen how people react to things like this, they find a target and lash out at it. The more “different” that target is, the better.

They may not go anywhere with it, but it’s good that it’s in the game for the moment.

Indeed! I was surprised to even see it in game, wasn’t expecting something so realistic in terms of behavior.

I, too am interested in seeing how all this plays out.

I remember back in the glory days of EQ1, that some races were considered “dark” while others were considered “light” and their NPCs reacted accordingly. There were realms that you didn’t go into if you were human, and others you didn’t go into if you were a dark elf.

I do hope that GW2 brings some interesting nuances into the whole issue, and that the Sylvari as a race will come out of it with some bruises, but still be ok.

I also agree that the developers need to handle it very carefully.

Never played EQ1, but I understand where you’re coming from. I like to think that the writers are willing to explore more shades of grey with this topic and in other areas of the game, but time will tell. And yeah your hope is mine too, I’d hate for them to become outcasts, as amazing an RP standpoint that would be.

I don’t play a Sylvari, but I hear NPC’s can give hostile responses to Sylvari players talking to them (even if they are the hero – a bit odd, but prob difficult to programme out)

From an RP perspective, this is an interesting development. And is much more in keeping with the Living World ideals as well. Perhaps the world will turn on Sylvari hrto further actions from the Nightmare Court. A hostile uprising against the Pale Tree or maybe just a racial story of redemption. Some interesting possibilites could lay ahead.

Last year it was said Sylvari were going to get a big lore drive and we look like we are heading into it. They are by far the most under developed race right now.

I agree with what you said, and all those story tracks would be incredibly fun to see. I just hope the writers can give the situation the nuance it deserves whichever path they take so it’s not the stereotypical tropey stuff that tends to happen with arcs like this?
I know the Living Story’s been a tad hamfisted with the plot devices but I’m optimistic they could pull off something incredible.

Riots of angry Lions Archers outside the Grove would be jawdropping, as per your example. (Also rather heartbreaking but that’s just me)

I couldn’t see it happening, but it would be more impactful then burning LA I believe. What they did with LA was big and epic, but it never sparked any real emotion for me. Just not sure LA really had the soul to do it. Burning The Grove would fire players up a lot more I think and in differing ways.

p.s I am not actually leading a rebellion against the Sylvari or Pale Tree btw, just exploring an idea

It’d be a shocker for sure. It’d be an ugly scene ESPECIALLY if it was borne out of racism toward the Sylvari. I know I’d be emotionally invested. But yeah, I’d be amazed if ANet actually torched the Grove, considering one of the main tenets of the Sylvari race is how noble and kindhearted most of them are with the Pale Tree.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Aftertouch.5437

Aftertouch.5437

Good evening! Thanks for posting this, hopefully it can help with something I’ve been having issues with since I rolled a male sylvari thief. Basically, there’s a few polygons on the Anonymity Hood that seem to be displaced whenever I run or idle. They waggle around rather badly in game, seems to be tied with the walk/run cycle oddly. You can see it in the screenshot below. I’m not sure what caused it, it’s been like this ever since I first started playing. Perhaps it’s got something to do with sylvari hairstyle? (Went with the pinecone option) First noticed it in the Dream and it kept persisting even afterward. Tried swapping armor sets, still no luck. As for gear, all I had on was the starter rawhide gear and a dull dagger.

At any rate, thank you and I hope that this bug can be fixed somehow!

Anonymity Hood visual glitch?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Aftertouch.5437

Aftertouch.5437

So I’ve been playing thief on my sylvari, and one thing that seems to be an issue is that the Anonymity Hood has some displaced polygons on my character? It’s visible when idling and especially visible when running. Other people seem to have the hood with no issue, is it simply your own view of it makes it glitched?

If so, I’d love to hear about a fix. I can try and show what it looks like if neccessary.

Thanks, and keep up the good work on the game!
