It depends on how you acquired the whit as to whether you can salvage it. If you got it from a monster, it is salvageable.
However you can not salvage white items you bought from a store.
Some quest rewards will also not let you salvage them
Jumping Puzzles are areas where you have to jump to get to a ‘Chest’.
(In some cases to a different reward)
Jumping to get to a ‘Vista’ will not count toward the Jumping Puzzle category in the Daily Challenge.
In my opinion, you could have asked someone In-game this question and gotten the same response. ^^
