Okay we fixed it!!!
I had been using the Microsoft signed video driver. I went out to AMD.com and downloaded the latest driver for my video card.
The driver install also installed a few other things, like an updated version of .Net.
Now all is well!
I do wish I was able to get to the point of having a log file generated somewhere or an error message which might have mentioned dependencies like that. But all is well and the game is installing!
I found those files in this directory:
c:\Users\(my user name)\AppData\Local\Temp\
But the above steps did not work for me, it is stuck on Downloading 9kb.
Okay wait, I searched for gw2.tmp and it didn’t find anything, but another post suggested I look at the log file, which was under C:\User\(my user name)\AppData\Local\Temp\
I found that gw2.tmp, AND gw2.exe in that above folder. I renamed gw2.exe to gw2copy.exe, renamed gw2.tmp to gw2.exe and ran gw2copy.exe. It’s now stuck at downloading 0kb.
I am going to try deleting both of the above files from that Temp directory and trying again.
Kirito, that didn’t help as I don’t have a gw2.tmp file at all, and I don’t have a gw2.exe, just a gw2setup.exe.
Have now also tried adding -image -nopatchui to the setup’s exe, but that didn’t work (not sure if those work on the install or just the game exe). Running out of ideas and patience.
Having an issue with a fresh re-install of Win7 64-bit. This is happening both from the CD and from downloading the installer from My Account.
The installer runs and downloads about 10mb of files before it re-starts and pops back up like it has more to download (obviously), and at that point the installer just closes without any messages (error or otherwise).
Have turned off UAC, Firewall, and disabled things in MSConfig. Also running it as Admin. Have tried deleting the Local.dat file in My Document.
Any other suggestions?
