Thank you Clumsy for posting that link. I did actually read that article, but apparently my mind didn’t click on what I was reading. I am now in a wait and see mode on how they make this change. They want to cause as little disruption as possible when the change comes, but it certainly doesn’t take much to disrupt me ¬_¬ and some how I doubt their ability to do this
I also can’t really argue about them removing MF from gear until I see the alternative. It will however ruin all my hard work I put into my MF gear (considering I grinded TA for the appearance of 6 items and 6 transmutation stones)
I guess this means I shouldn’t spend 50 laurels on the MF amulet+utility I wanted? ¬_¬
So… MF gear is changing? Where is this said? I don’t come to the forums often, so I don’t know where this is said (I did look btw)
On topic, before I stopped playing for a while, no one seemed to care I was in MF gear. I pulled my weight and usually performed better than my peers. I wasn’t being selfish, it’s just I usually spent time farming than I did with groups, and was the best thing I have available to wear (exotics MF). That’s not to say I haven’t been working on an alternate set of armor such as a zerkers set so that I could be of abit more use. I don’t mind having 2 different sets of armor lugging around in my inventory. It’s just taken me longer because I wanted to transmute it onto culture armor.
On that note, only 1 of my alts has MF gear. All the others are geared properly. I don’t see why people can’t do the same, as well as be more understanding of someone wearing MF gear. Being in MF doesn’t make a person “bad”. I think it’s more selfish to kick someone wearing it
However if MF is being removed or changed in some sort of way, this will greatly effect me, as I put a lot of time and effort into my MF gear (it being exotic and appearance transmuted). I don’t see why Anet has the right to change it or remove it just because people have a certain ‘opinion’ about it (again, someone please link me to where this said if you could)
Right, but before soulbound/level restricted gear you could for example just pass your high tier gear to your low level alt. Both of these were introduced to combat that. Now they are just a staple of MMOs at this point. In fact I would say guild wars has done it correctly since all skins and all low level gear is in fact not soulbound at all. It isn’t until you get to the high tier sets (Rare and higher) that you run into that. Again this is so that one person cannot make 1 set of armor, and get one set of ascended (celestial) trinkets and just pass them around to every character they make. Each character has to earn their own gear.
If they want to go that route, then they need to make dailies and monthlies character bound and not account. Cause as it is right now, only 1 character can work toward laurel items. If they want each character to earn their own, then make a way for that to happen
There is no real twinking in GW2. The stat variations in D2 don’t even remotely compare to what’s in GW2. The best you can really do is craft the best armor/weapons you can and have your first level 80 help fund it (which is exactly what I do). Those items being account or character bound doesn’t change that in the slightest. It also doesn’t change anything once they’re all at level 80. If things were account wide instead of character, it would only save time and money, that’s it. You’re still gearing them the way you would have anyway
There are certain items that I think should be more account bound instead of character bound. Especially items that you buy with laurels. If laurel items are going to be character bound, then let me do my daily and monthly on all my alts instead of having that account wide. It seems like the fair thing to do. I suppose you could argue “who has time for that?” People who raise level 80 alts, that’s who. And it’s not like people would be forced to do dailies/monthly on each toon. Either that or make laurel items account wide. It annoyed me from day 1 I couldn’t do dailies on each character
I’m a alt-aholic, though I can only somewhat agree with OP, as I gear each character too different to really want to share their gear (appearance wise). Things like accessories though would save me a ton of time and money
Hunter’s Shot is basically completely useless now with the way I built my ranger. It’s rare for me to even visit the forums, and I usually don’t bother with reading the patch notes unless I’m trying to learn about event stuff, so I didn’t see any of this coming. I used Hunter’s Shot mainly to apply the 10 stacks of vulnerability and used it in a skill rotation I used. But because it no longer adds 10 stacks, and instead applies (what I find useless) 3 sec stealth, which I never needed, it has been completely removed from my skill rotation
The only reason I now use Hunter’s Shot is if I’m shooting at something from great range and want my pet to get to my target quickly, and that’s it. I’m not saying the vulnerability added to Rapid Fire is a bad thing, I’m just saying Hunter’s Shot is completely useless to me now. I might find a situation where stealth might come in handy, but with my play style, that will be extreamly rare
Once your pet has engaged the target, most mobs will completely ignore you (the player) and your pet will do the tanking. There’s just no need to stealth. It is now the only bow skill (both LB and SB) I find pointless in PvE. I’m not much of a PvPer so I can’t speak on that level
I can ‘maybe’ see it useful when I solo champions and the champ decides to ignore my pet, but soloing champions isn’t something I actively seek out to do
