I will put on some Runes of Altruism and try that Rock Solid trait with 20 Earth and see how that compares. It seems like some sound advice, thanks.
I am pretty new to playing elementalist and at the moment just running with groups in WvW with full Cleric gear / Staff, and traits at 0, 0, 10, 30, 30.
(edit – with Superior Runes of Water, and Superior Sigil of Life)
Using in Water (I) Aquamancer’s Alacrity, (V)Cleansing Wave and (XI) Cleansing Water
and in Arcana (V)Elemental Attunement, (VIII) Blasting Staff, and (XI) Evasive Arcana)
I find that I am providing quite a decent amount of support to the group – no issues standing under a couple of arrow carts at a gate, but I am wondering is their a better setup for a full healing build? (maybe Apothecary for condition damage on burning?)
Comming from playing necromancer, I find survivability a bit getting used to with this class, but that I just having to adapt my playstyle.
Also, are there any plans from Anet to bring in HealingPower/Toughness/Vitality gear? – that would be most awesome for a build that does not focus on any damage.

I run with Superior rune of vampirsm, so when I fall below 10% health I turn into mist.
Problem arises when I enter plague and then fall below 10% health I turn to mist, for a few seconds, but when I exit that mist form I am no longer in plague.
I’m not sure if that is by design, but is sure annoying when using plague as a form of escape from a large group of enemy.

I feel need to post this, as I am starting to see a fair few of questionable commanders roaming around (there are still some good ones – those that see me work with you, you know who you are.)
please make commander earn their badge with something like:
- 25k Kills in WvW.
- 500+ gold spend on upgrades.
- 2500 successful fort defences.
- 2500 successful fort invasions.
please, no more inexperienced commanders, seeing a map filled with blue airheads march their lemmings to slaughter is not a fun experience.
well, I just came here to report the same thing, though not about blacktide, I’m from blacktide, but fromwhiteside ridge players on our border.
It is definatly not people farming naturally, because my level 20 mesmer would have no hope of repeatedly being able to kill them 4 vs. 1 if they were actually front of their computers.
I also note that they have Magic find sigil and nourishment, so probably not interested in normal WvW… why they can’t just do this on their own border? what advantage is it to them other than Hills swords going off every few minutes?
