Been having this issue for some time, and it made the game unplayable for a while. I set GW2 to run as Admin while also in compatibility mode with Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and it improved somewhat, enough that I would not freeze right away at the very least. I have to hard restart every time this happens. Screen goes black, still can hear sound and music, sometimes it can start skipping though. Things I have tried:
- Memory Test, 100% pass
- Hard Drive disk check, came out good.
- Using a second, completely blank hard drive.
- Updating my NVIDIA drivers to 306.97, even trying to 310.54 beta drivers. I have downgraded back to 306.97 since then, as beta will be beta.
- Fixing any errors that were occurring according to the Event Viewer.
- About four or five separate re-installs, some before and some after the disk check.
- Deleting the local.dat.
- Deleting the entire Guild Wars 2 folder in Documents.
- Editing MSCONFIG so to be sure nothing was starting up at boot that conflicted with the game.
- A number of other things, including edits to the NVIDIA control panel.
None of these have worked, only the two above really made any noticeable difference, and it only made it so it might take 30 minutes to an hour till it happens again. I know it’s not overheating as temps stay in a good range even after an hour or so of playing, and the crash can happen as soon as I log in on a character. I had a support ticket open, but after getting told to repeat a process I already did, I got frustrated and closed the ticket.
Something is wrong with Guild Wars 2, I’m fairly certain of it. It ran fine before Halloween, and now it won’t. Can we get some response as to what actions are being taken to fix this, please?
Having the same issue here, and have had it for a long while. Game is basically unplayable at the moment. Tried everything Ebon did, even swapping out to another hard drive to install GW2 on, but with no luck. Post a fix if you get one, please!
