I’m playing a ranger and I understand your trouble.
The problem is that generally fights in WvW will be stalemates where no one really dies (except a few that position foolishly) until one side routs and the other team charges them down.
I don’t know why, but I only seem to get kill credit and loot for a player if I stand there mindlessly shooting at them whilst they are downed. (If I try charge them for the execute, a melee player finishes it before I can do anything, I get nothing for the kill.)
I think that something should be tweaked regarding credit for player kills, because currently I get rewarded significantly more heavily for mindlessly spamming low damage AoE than I do for picking off single targets caught out of position, or taking out the enemy siege from behind.
