Because I am not getting any experience in exchange for my in-game time – I start to hate the game.

If you’re going to enjoy this game, it is probably necessary to stop thinking about your play time in terms of progress bars. If you really are starting to hate this game based on not being to obtain tangible progress or experience points every time you log in, you probably won’t find much longevity in the endgame, where I feel a lot of the enjoyment is enjoying content at your own pace instead of worrying about progress or gear too much.

The quality of the content at 80 is significantly better than what you are currently playing through in the core game though (at least in my opinion). The story gets better, maps are more interesting, better open world pve content, elite specs, fractals, etc. all make the game a lot more worthwhile.

Also, the mastery system isn’t really a replacement for leveling. HoT and core Tyria masteries are separate, so you will only earn core tyria mastery experience while finishing your personal story. The Tyria mastery bonuses are nice quality of life improvements, and necessary if you want to go the route of crafting a legendary, but they really don’t change gameplay that much. I would not really fret about trying to get them as soon as possible.

HoT masteries play a big role in navigating the maps in the expansion, but you don’t need to worry about that until you get around to playing through that content, as experience you are earning in core Tyria doesn’t count towards earning those masteries anyways.

Hey, I’m interested in maybe joining up with you guys. I recently came back to the game after taking a break to play some other games.

I’ve been wanting to try out a cross-game guild for a while and this might be a good place to start. Started up an account on the zG website. My main character is an engineer named Danse Caribe (lv 80), currently on Yak’s Bend server. I’m mainly interested in getting into so sPvP after i’ve brushed up on the game a bit, doing some dungeon runs, and leveling up my alt elementalist (lv 35). I’ll shoot you an in-game mail.

Hi all,

I’m a guild wars 2 player coming back to playing the game after taking a break for a couple months. The first time around I lost interest in the game after hitting 80 on my engineer, and I think part of the reason was that I didn’t find a good active guild that used TS3 or Mumble, so I was playing the game on my own most of the time.

I mostly do PvE and sPvP, with some WvW mixed in – so I’m interested in a guild that does a mix of these. I am currently spending most of my time in PvE, as I started a new warrior that I am planning on going through personal story/ leveling/ dungeons with.

Here’s a breakdown of what I’m interested in:

-PvX (Members enjoy doing dungeons, sPvP matches, WvW)
-Any US server, I’m willing to transfer
-Mumble/TS3 server for people to hang out in, as well as use for events/dungeons/PvP
-The more active (representing) members, the better. Smaller guilds are okay if the members are active and there’s always people around to play with.
-Occasional organized guild events are a plus
-“Mediumcore”, as in more involved and active than a casual guild and interested in competitive play in PvP, but still laid back and relaxed attitude about the game.

Overall, enjoyable people to level/run dungeons/form up PvP teams with.

Little more about me:

Current server: Yak’s Bend
Charecters: Danse Caribe (lv 80 Engineer), Sula Caribe (lv 35 Elementalist), The Rust (Lv 12 Warrior, whom I’m currently playing)
-I mostly play my engineer in sPvP
-I’m a college student
-I’m currently also playing Planetside 2 and Borderlands 2 if there are any cross-game guilds are there.

If you have a guild you think would be a good match, let me know more about it here and I’ll check it out. A link to a guild website or voice chat server would be stellar.

Thanks!

-The Rust

If you're doing pvp, use the medkit people

Medkit is great when you’re traited for toolbelt skill recharge, but otherwise I disagree with healing turret as being obsolete, for these reasons:

1) 15 second cooldown if you pick the turret up right away, making it the shortest CD and the most healing per cooldown second without requiring any traits. You still get a decent regeneration buff even if you pick it up instantly.

2). Decent condition removal. The CD is long, but the condition removal on medkit doesn’t usually help me too much. Getting only to remove one condition when you have multiple conditions on you just leaves it to chance which condition will be removed. I prefer the remove all conditions on a longer CD, as it can really save your life in a condition heavy fight.

There are still, of course, reasons to take medkit over healing turret. Being traited for it, having a crit heavy build that benefits a lot out of the fury buff, needing a swiftness boost if you don’t run the perma-swiftness on kits, etc. They’re both very viable skills in my opinion.

Show sPvP Rank in Guild Roster?

Simple idea: why not show a character’s sPvP rank alongside the other information shown in the guild roster (profession, level, and level of crafting professions)? This information could make it easy to tell which members of a guild are into doing sPvP frequently, and which members aren’t- information that could be helpful for forming up tournament teams in guilds that do both PvE and sPvP. Also, just great for bragging rights to see what are the highest ranking players in more competitive guilds.
