Again here, thank you so much ArenaNet!! It’s awesome, I am having a blast as are my guildies and friends! There are a lot of crybabies out there going nuts over skins and stuff they feel entitled to, who are missing a lot of the best parts! Hope they don’t drown out the sounds of those of us who are grateful and having a blast!!!

It’s to be expected. We just have to be patient. There was a LOT for them to do today, people were upset it was slow. People were upset the download was slow. Now some (not directed at anyone here!) are upset because loading the maps is slow. It’s the nature of the beast. Everyone is trying to do the same things at once, and there was quite a bit of content in that patch. A little patience goes a long way, no one is going to miss anything

Final number for me was right at about 700MB. See you all inside!

75% done, 1.25MB/sec and at about 500MB so far.

It’s already stabilizing here, going at 1.14MB/sec with occasional slowdowns. I’m sure they’re ironing it out

Everyone is having problems. This update is a huge deal, people have been crying about it like infants ALL day. Now it’s up, and everyone is trying to get it at once. You’ll get there, it’s not just you

so, those of us that work in est will not really be able to play much, unless we want to forgo sleep, untill the 23rd. when i heard the 22nd, i was of the thought sometime in the afternoon. i was expecting to be able to have it when i got home from work and have a full evening to play, silly me.

I dont understand the first part of the event lasts 4 days…………….not 1…………..whats the problem your having?

ok, i have no problem with them releasing it whenever they want, its their software. i just feel that they were misleading in what they said regarding the release timewise. i was really looking forward, all day long, to being able to play it tonight. being that i have to get up for work at 6am est, i will not be able to do anything tonight. had they said that it was gonna be this late in the evening/ night, i would have been ok with that. they just need better communication is all.

They had a video stream earlier today, explaining that the patch was still being worked on and would be released later tonight. They also said it was going to be a late evening patch on twitter about 14 hours ago.

But if people checked that stuff, and read where they said quite specifically it would be the 23rd in Europe (therefore meaning at LEAST evening the 22nd PST for everyone in the U.S.) and watched the live stream that stated they were having to work on things (it happens, game breaking stuff shows up, get the hell over it) , they couldn’t come here to moan that the arbitrary time that they set for themselves has come and gone lol

Be glad they are not certain other companies-who-shall-not-be-named and taking the servers down for HOURS. They are doing a live update, with a lot of content, pushed while maintaining the ability for players to keep playing. You might want to pretend you know better, but it’s a lot of work, things come up, and it just happens. This event is quite long, it’s not like you’re going to miss out if you’re a few hours or even a workday late.

Same here! Very excited! I hope you guys at Arena Net look at these threads as well. The very vocal minority is bashing you over and over, but the vast majority are having fun in game with fan made events, and looking forward to the fruits of your hard work and efforts!!

I understand everyone’s excitement, but really? You don’t need to rearrange your lives to make room for a game, keeping you up at ridiculous times so you can then complain about having work the next day. That’s your problem. Not ANets. They’re trying.
I think they’re doing a great job, and their use of the word “impatient” is quite suitable.
Now, I’m going to go enjoy the game I paid money for, instead of wasting my time hating on ANet. Keep up the good work.

Very poor communication – the email blast shouldnt have gone out till it was live. It should have been stated that it wouldnt go live EST/EU on the 22nd.You should have said the 23 and there wouldnt have been an issue. I dont have an interest in the event but crystal clear time would have alleviated a lot of issues.
I would have preferred a working Orr myself.

European email said the 23rd. It is only 9:30 Eastern, there is still 2.5 hours until it is no longer a 22nd update. I don’t see what you’re crying about.

Actually, being that it’s only 6:31pm in the time zone that they stated, they are 5.5 from being a 23rd release and at that point being “late”. And for the folks in Europe, their communication clearly said it would be the 23rd for you all, not the 22nd. They aren’t even late yet and people are going completely off their rocker. I get that some people missed work or set aside time and want to play it, but it’s life, it happens.

Considering They advertised it as the 23rd to Europeans and it is still fairly early in the night for Pacific time. They still haven’t failed to deliver their promise, and won’t for several hours.

I don’t understand the upset feelings over the word impatient. Too many people are in fact being impatient. What should they have said after being flamed by tons of people who frankly have no idea what is going on on their end or even what exactly is being pushed in this first major content update? Thank you for being so kind and understanding and patient? They shouldn’t have to mince words to protect IMPATIENT people’s feelings. People acting like Arena Net is the first MMORPG developer to be behind or late on a MAJOR content push (especially the first one, so soon after release) must not have been around the MMORPG block before, at all.

lol @ the person complaining that Arena Net used the word impatient. Look at these threads and tell me people are being patient, and A-Net was wrong with that terminology….

Exactly Webrunner. But sadly, a lot of people think they know better, and have any concept of what’s involved. They say that A-Net should have set it a day before, or adjusted the timing of it, but then they’d just be * then, that it wasn’t a day earlier yet again.

People just need to relax and breathe a little. The first stage of the event lasts quite a while. It’s not like if you’re not online the second it comes live, you’re going to miss everything and millions of people are going to get something you’re not.

lol at the impatience of some people. It sucks to wait, I agree, but it’s better than a rushed job. All kinds of unforeseen things can come up with a patch like that. It’s the first “major” patch for the game so far. If they rushed it and something broke or went wrong, everyone would kitten because they rushed it and “WAHHHHH YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE SURE FIRST!!!” but when they take efforts to ensure things will go smoothly, it’s “WAHHHHHH I NEED IT NOWWWW WHO CARES IF SOMETHING BREAKS, YOU PROMISED!!!!” They can’t win with some people, so they don’t try, and I don’t blame them.

If your day is made or broken by an event going live by a certain time, you really need to step outside a bit more often.

Hopefully soon. The client works well, but it really doesn’t look as good as under Windows… I tend to agree with FlamingFoxx, being that it’s listed as an issue under “Known Issues” I would be inclined to believe it’s something that’s coming at some point.

Agreed. It’s got a great community, just like the first one had. Always the random jerk here and there in any game, but the GW series always has a lot of great people playing!

It runs perfectly fine for me under OS X, but I too hope they end up making a native client one day. Being that a version “for Mac” came so soon following release, like someone else said, it is a good sign that they’ve had this in mind for a while. I am just glad I can avoid the dual booting into Windows hell. I’d play it even if it was only under Windows, but this is MUCH better.
