I made this same suggestion last week. You didn’t see it because, it was moved from the WvW forums to the “Suggestion” forums. :’(

If ANet would only implement an instanced fight club arena, there would be no conflict between WvW guilds who enjoy occasionally honing their skills against each other and players who feel everyone in the Borderlands should be working toward taking and defending objectives. (I think both are valid points, so I am terribly conflicted!)

New Suggestion: A separate WvW Suggestions Area

On Topic: I’d prefer it not be a gem store thing, personally. It would be fun for folks to come and go casually and fights to occur in an organic fashion, much the way “fight club” events currently occur but just in a zone of their own.

So . . . any WvW players visit this forum?

The search function isn’t working for me for some reason, so I apologize if this has been suggested in the past.

Just as the jump puzzle in EBG is now a separate instance, a GvG Arena space could be set aside for groups wanting to skirmish with one another.

Some Benefits:

• Bloodlust would have no effect on the GvGers
• GvGers would not have any effect on the queues of individual borderlands
• New-to-WvW players would not interfere with fight clubs

Further Suggestions:

• Existing art already exists, such as The Bane in the Black Citadel, which could be utilized to create the new space.
• A new asura gate at spawn could take players to the zone (or perhaps an entrance on the South Camp windmill with an elevator down to the “fighting pits”).
• An NPC standing beside the gate could inform players that entering the gate takes them to a free-for-all fight club area.

I am just curious as to why WvW has to be down for hours prior to the release. It caught me by surprise this morning when I logged on to play a bit.

We had an off week. They had a good one. It happens.

I chose Yak’s Bend at launch. Because it is the home for several mature gaming communities such as The Old Timers Guild [OTG], The Older Gamers [TOG], and Tempest Gaming [TGC], I hoped that the rest of the YB community would be mature, responsible, and respectful. In almost a year of playing, I have not been disappointed. The vast majority of Yaks have a positive attitude. Their passion for gaming is balanced with respect for their opponents and each other.

It is a pleasure to fight alongside my fellow Yaks!

I am biased, of course, so I thought I would include a couple of our opponent’s quotes from some past Match-Up threads commenting on our sportsmanship and respect both in game and on the forums (emphasis mine).

Repeating some of what others have said, but putting it all of my favorite suggestions in a bulleted list:

Desired Options for commanders:

• Gold Commander Icon – When someone joins a squad their commander’s icon shows as gold, but they are still able to see the other blue commanders on the map.

• Icon Visibility Options – Commanders should have options to set their icon to On, Off, or Visible only to Guild (many PvE guilds use the commander icon to help a large group stay together during various events)

• Squad members show on map – Squad members show up as gold dots on the map (as party members currently show in blue)

• Squad Info Panel – similar to a Guild Roster showing members, supply, class, zone

• Kick from Squad Option – Commanders should have the option (in the Info Panel mentioned above) to kick someone from the squad

• Commander Chat – A chat channel just for commanders

“Team” or “Map” chat – Is there any real difference? I see people using them interchangeably in WvW and I’ve often wondered if there is any benefit for using one over the other.

If there really is no difference, I’d love for ANet to:

Make /t a true team chat – one that allows us to communicate with the entire team across all borderlands.

• Is this something the rest of the community would like to see?
• Is this something that ANet can implement? (if so, is there any reason it’s not already a part of the game?)

(I did a search on chats and didn’t find any previous posts relating to team vs. map chat, so I apologize if this has already been addressed and I’ve simply failed miserably at forum searching. )

I second this idea.

Add badges of honor as a currency for purchasing the guild back banners, please.

Would it make everyone happier if they change the DAY of reset as well? Most NA would be home on a Saturday afternoon. They could perhaps even push the time back a bit more for the EU player base without adversely affecting the NA population.

Just a thought. I know it’s impossible to please everyone all the time, but I think this solution might be a better compromise.

If he just took the “p” off and made it Foo Foo Cuddly Oops, would that be okay? That would remove the potentially offensive nature of the name, without destroying the identity and fun story behind it.
He doesn’t want to be suspended again, so he asked me to post and be sure before he makes it permanent.

Thank you for replying so quickly. He is currently staring at his screen trying to decide what to rename his charr.

Our nine-year-old will be so sad that Foo Foo had to go. His name came from a cute little sabre-tooth moose lion cub from a Nickelodeon cartoon show. Here is a link to the show’s wiki showing where the name actually comes from.

Laughing at the irony of someone named Scooby Treats complaining about food.

I was shocked last night when my husband’s account was suspended for 72 hours for an inappropriate name. After perusing the forums and submitting a ticket, I reassured him that he should be able to log in this morning (as I had read in recent posts that first time offenders are reinstated immediately after the ban with the inappropriate character flagged somehow). Unfortunately, he is still unable to log onto the game.

Naturally, we were a bit upset and very confused. We put quite a bit of thought into choosing our names. We even Googled his names last night to try and understand why, but found nothing offensive. All I can hope is that it is a mistake and will be corrected very soon.

Is there any option to defend a name once it is flagged? We will certainly change it if we naively chose a culturally offensive name (We are older and some terms just don’t mean what they did when we were young ), but we would like to argue for the appropriateness of the name if it is at all possible.

ANet employees are only human and can make mistakes. We think we may be the unintended victims of one them, both for the surprisingly inappropriate name and the lengthy suspension for a “TOS-abiding citizen.”

Hoping it’s all cleared up quickly, as I’d really like to game with my husband this weekend.

I’m not sure why my question about the “Player Conduct Report” interface was moved here. I posted originally in “Guild Wars 2 Discussion” forum, thinking it was something everyone needed to know, in the event that we need to report an infraction that isn’t one of the five listed.
I would like to know if there is a procedure for reporting other infractions besides inappropriate character names, botting, spamming, scamming, or verbal abuse.

I wanted to report an offensive guild name today, but I couldn’t find an option to do so. I could report the individual in the guild for “inappropriate character name,” but that would look like a false report since the character’s name is completely fine (though I have to wonder about anyone who would be a member of a guild with such a misogynistic name). I wish there was an “other” check box with a small text box for elaboration, but since there isn’t one and the player wasn’t botting, spamming, scamming, or verbally abusing anyone, I have come here seeking advice.

Is there any other option for reporting player infractions? If not, how do I report someone without the appropriate label?
