I agree with this. Sarcasm be your friend because ironically the new worlds eliminated most of the problems scouts had. Because most things run on auto and keeps have instant wp, all the things scouts worried about – because time and effort was put into it – simply was devalued. It did not solve any defense problems it simply made them irrelevant.
On my server most “hardcore” defenders are on eb running with the blob and doing the occassional “fun defense” (hard habit to loose not to jump wp to check what those crosses are about, build a bit siege and stuff).

Of course there is also a lot of new meta to be learned and I think there is still fun to be had on the bl, but it would need a change of attitute.
On my server gvg during prime often effectly blocked defense on homes because we could not get help on the map and you had to beg the gvg. But now that defense would have come easier….gvgs gone (from complains I hear the maps are to hard to navigate and gvg with the hightened environmental map awareness requirement is just to hard for ours who are used so simple head-bashing).
EB is simply “easier” whereas the bl would, next to population, require lot more strategy and communiction due to the landscape. Also, the dollys are ugly on bl.

I personally give it a few more weeks to see what happens when most finished pve, hoping that people are pushing for bl simply bc eb is not possible to get on. Maybe some people and commanders by then will give a try….still I dont know where that one will go.

However, there is an important factor that no one is looking at. Those guilds are doing closed raids because they want to, because it is fun for them. The more people troll them and ruin the game experience for them, the more likely it is for a WvW guild to pick up and move to another server that might accommodate them better.

This may be correct but statistically incorrect. Most guild leave for a bunch of other reasons, first of, to fight other guilds that they have not yet fought.
I know of none that left because a few pugs followed them.

Secondly – to pick up on that statistical part again that was mentioned way above on a post – we have to differ between fights and gvgs. It is a myth that gvg contributes in any way to the wvw game even if it “keeps another guild busy”. wvw is always a 3 party game but gvg is always only 2 opponents. So while a gvg is always giving massive advantage to the 3 party on the map. Especially in prime time when most gvg happen you have half our map and another group gvg somewhere while the 3rd party basically blobs. Combined with the fact that gvg people dont defend and on top partially also call fake incs on other maps to get others to leave the map so they can get even more of their own in, they are certainly not contributing to the wvw game mode.

Regarding scrims, it is a matter of reputation of the guild. And that reputation must be earned with the community. This happens automtically if you are running on your own while still being willing to coordinate with the others. Guild could even contribute one of their own players to lead the pugs….no idea why the never do that.
In the end if a guild does not earn rep then they have to life with the fact that the “everyone can do as they want” is a two sided sword that swings both ways.

I’m sorry but a lot of what is said above regarding it being new and that we must adapt is pretty beside the point and frankly ridiculous. Of course we must not discard something aside just because it is not as we are used to! However, pretending nothing new is ever “bad” or at least more detrimental than good is fallacious. Beside, I DID say I tried a lot so I’m not “knee jerking” here nor lacking imagination I assure you.

What, for example, is the counter to 1 or 2 thief with 20 sec stealth and a stack of those new gimmick? I’m an ele and not even a zerg of 50 has ever been able to stop me from meteoring what I really wanted to (granted, I often died in these suicidal missions but I was able to deliver my payload)… Do you really see a siege disabler ever failing when used? Even more so when used with stealth? Come on, stop kidding yourself with your projectile blocking theories and different placements.

When you are in a position where retaking your own keep is now next to impossible because the already overwhelming force now has all the time in the world to make 3 laps around EB before you can bring a gate down you realize that this thing isn’t all rainbow and butterflies for the underdogs. It is great in defense, true. But down the line, this is something that, yet again, benefit the strongest party a lot more and it just made your underdog situation even more hopeless since all that can be defended is in enemies hands, which sux a max.

Wake up!

Not wanting to feed the troll but hontestly, if there are siege disablers for defenders facing an overwhelming large enemy group is totally irrelevant. Hey, it`s time to wake up. This is a game where coverage and numbers matter.
I had once a server more than an hour in front of a t3 keep dpsing it down and that way before they came up with wxp levels.
You cant become more dead than dead. Siege disablers got nothing to do with that.

And I dont really know what hands on experience you have but comparing an ele meteoring to a thief throwing a disabler is not quite the same. First of the meteor will actually destroy siege the disabler blocks it. Take catapults ; sure i can stealth and block them as a thief and then what? The group sits there waits for 45 seconds and carrys on if i have no reinforcements from my server. So the disabler does not stop you it simply give me time. If you are not a karma trainer it should not distrub you. Secondly, having hands on exerpience exactly in this “op situation” as a thief to throw a disabler I can assure you I got blocked/stomped/feared enough times for it not to work.
Is it my problem if your necro just standing by dwidling their thumps?

There was another thread about this before where people first started of by whining about not being able to use 5 rams on gates and getting in withouth problems and when that did not work switched to an argumentation like yours where poor defenders needed protection fromevil siege disablers. As far as I have seen very few people here that actually do defend have spoken against it.

If you are really interested then go and think how matches can be balanced more so we get out of this superior force in offtime ptting scenario.

I totally agree to that and wonder why people dont ask more for that instead of trying to “negotiate a dance partner”. Obvioulsy there is a conflict material whenever gvg forces itself into wvw – especially when wvw peeps wanna have bl buff. Funnily enough – considering the few gvg guilds there are (3 being listed on the start page per server) – one wonders why those cannot go out of their way to agree on a date in OS or in the dry corner of eotm where I have seen my server gvg go. It is possible if one wants it. It just need some orga none wants to do. Instead we get post as such on the forum.
The time people spend on here argueing they could have done dozen of gvgs.

Interesting side not: what I see regarding gvg is that a lot of “gvg” guilds dont really get that many kids that want to play with them. Apparently gvg guilds spend a lot time getting their rooster/skills right. Your average wvw guild members are rarely into that. As a result the “gvg” guild comes to a wvw map and try to intercept guilds that want to do “normal wvw” at spawn.

you had a guild (seemingly the only eu guild) that was in early na you try to recruit for now again, that seems to have left “just before the tournament” for jq. Even though that is one of those hilarious coincidences it gives reason enough not to go sos (besides the 100k+lead you still win by- even so you claim all blob just the same….you dont get 100k+ lead if everyone would do it equally).

Their reasons for leaving says:

" PAIN has been getting less and less fights lately, and when we do get them once or twice a week we are fighting blobs many times our numbers. This prohibits us from running as solely our guild group.

Due to similar contributing factors, we feel that recruitment on SoS is done. There is almost no pug population left now yet we are still fielding guild raids of under 20, which we always deemed an ideal core number.

Too many guilds are leaving the server now for any kind of T1 push to be effective. Some have already left, some have leaving in the works, and it all adds up to a weakened WvW scene on SoS. As such we know that our current situation is not going to change in the near future if we stay on this server.

PAIN has always wanted to break into a gvg/scrim scene. We have never had this chance as T2 EU is dead in terms of guild presence.
