are you sure about that? i seem to remember guilds being character-bound at the start
also, chat is configurable, so that’s not really a big issue. perhaps some maximum limit is needed (though if they’re willing to pay for that many character slots, AND join that many guilds, it’s kind of on the player at that point if it’s unmanageable), but at the very least, having a few more than 5 would be useful for a lot of people from what i understand.
I can’t imagine it would require a lot of development time to increase the limit, and it would encourage the community to connect more in game and explore more of the game modes, and allow more coordination to happen in game instead of through third-party platforms

I’m wondering what the reasoning is behind only allowing 5 guilds per account. I understand there should be some limit, but it seems like such an arbitrary amount.
For me, I have one character of each profession (9 characters), and I’d like to be able to join a guild with each of them. With WvW, PvP, Open-world PvE, Raids, Dungeons, Guild Halls, Metas, and the social/friend aspects of the game, I feel like 5 isn’t enough to allow for the number of game types Guild Wars 2 supports. I remember when the game launched guilds were character-bound. I agree of course that account-bound makes more sense, but I wonder if the guild limit couldn’t be extended to one per character slot, with the minimum guild slots being 5 for any account with 5 or less slots.
I think this would prevent people from joining too many guilds, encourage people to purchase extra character slots, and encourage people to use more of their characters and explore a greater variety of game modes as well.
Thoughts?
Hi anet,
I’ve been doing the metas in Auric Basin recently as a sword/pistol thief, and my auto-attack does reasonable damage, but when I pistol whip no damage amounts appear. I’m not sure whether I’m actually doing damage or not, but it’s not displaying the damage either way, even if I steal/Infiltrator’s Strike and then Pistol Whip while targeting the octovine. Thought I should let you folks know.

Really happy that quickness no longer works on defensive skills!
I read the note about mixed skills (such as Pistol Whip) still being susceptible. I am glad for this. I think it makes sense that if a skill is mostly offence with a bit of defence (i.e. Pistol Whip) it makes sense to have quickness work, while if it’s more of a defensive skill (i.e. Shock Shield) then quickness shouldn’t work.
