I just now beat it. It was pretty hard but so fun. I haven’t felt this invigorated from a platforming experience in a while. It’s intense, and I’m glad it’s in the game.
I’m not sure why their being common would be a bad thing. The point of a holiday isn’t to bang on about it year round. It’s to have fun for a few weeks, let it piddle out because everyone had it, and move on. That’s what this should have been. Some random trinkity fun skins that if you really liked, you could wear year round, but otherwise most people wouldn’t bother because we all had it.
The problem is that we’re TRYING to make every single thing rare in the same way we do legendary. “Gotta work forty hours for everything” is silly philosophy. I just wanted to grab a chainsword for a couple weeks and buzz saw around with all the other maniacs. Now I have a third job.
Not all content is designed for the casual player. These ‘legendary’ tier Halloween weapons are great for the more hardcore player. “Gotta work forty hours for everything” is not true in the slightest. There is plenty of content you don’t need to work forty hours for, but for the rarest, you do.
The game owes you nothing. That is what you are forgetting. There was no deception. You gave the game ten dollars for some gems, and then you bought digital keys to open digital chests. The process was completely normal and worked EXACTLY as intended. It would be deception if you paid ten dollars and were told you’d get gems, but did not receive any. There was no guarantee that you’d get a special CHANCE BASED item from the chest. Sorry, there just wasn’t.
I doubt Anet is intimidated by you are the very small vocal minority here on the forums (Or other internet forums) giving them empty threats. This is not their headache, this is your headache. This is not their problem. You can try and make demands, but they won’t work. Seriously, they won’t.
Actually, this event has something for everyone, you are just blind (probably literally). The perm halloween weapons are for the HARDCORE crowd, not the CASUAL crowd. The Casual crowd gets the scavenger hunt. There is also THREE more parts to the event. Be a little more patient.
If you read the book ‘Ghosts of Ascalon’ one of the characters, a Sylvari Necromancer, animates a human that two of the human characters knew in the past. They freak out for the sheer fact that, “Hey! We KNEW that person!” but not for the reason that suddenly the dead came to life. It seems necromancers are still on the fringe of society, and magic itself, and as long as their minion aren’t human-like, people don’t mind too much.
I assume they are all dead, or left. Actually, a loose piece of lore exists for them in the game. Outside the Black Citadel in Ashford, by the lake with all the tar elementals, there is a heart. That heart vendor will sell you an accessory called ‘Gargoyle Fossil’. Haha :P
