Who are these people and why should I care?

That’s the question I find myself face with every time I play an LS episode or do any of HoT stuff and see this group whose names I can barely remember in most cases. Yeah there is that recap that briefly mentions them but that tells you the bare minimum at best and answers few questions overall.

Doesn’t help that most of them are near useless in the boss fights.

Those bosses is ball easy from what I remember :/ .

If you can’t kill that slowly walking mender that npc

will mention everytime it spawn. You got some problem.

Except the mentions stop roughly halfway through. Pus considering they seem to appear every two seconds they are just plain annoying to deal with.

Troll somewhere else please

I wanted to like it, I really did, hell with every episode I played I started out enjoying myself only to have the entire experience tainted by annoying and tedious boss fights. Episode 1’s boss: runs around like a rabbit on crack , and every so often just becomes invincible because hey why should the player have any fun? Of course his BS shield can be broken with a mechanic introduced shortly beforehand, but it only works sometimes and by sometimes I mean barely. Episode 2’s boss: again it’s strategy seems to be “becomes invincible repeatedly, because screw you!” and the NPCs that were supposed to help? They just up and vanished back to where they were at the beginning of the quest and stayed there, leaving me to escort the slowest minions ever so I can take off another sliver of it’s health. Episode 3’s boss, I actually liked it at first! I thought to myself maybe it will be different, maybe it will get better now! NOPE! Have to chisel away at it while enemies spawn to heal it repeatedly like the mouth of zhaitan, except this guy has way more health, and fireballs of knockback BS that follow you around because shame on me for having optimism I suppose. I couldn’t even finish this one, I just cannot stand this storyline anymore.

I got this because I got Heart of Thorns when I first bought this game, and felt like I needed some context for what was happening, and who these characters were, which this doesnt do anyway because they were all introduced in season 1 and shame on me for not getting the game sooner I suppose. Honestly at this point these characters aren’t going to endear themselves to me because all I will think about is how useless most of them were as allies here.

The stuff leading up to the bosses was good, and I really wanted to like it, I really truly did. The closest thing I can compare this to is being in the middle of a nice meal and some big fat come walks over, rips a giant fart and just leaves, sure you can keep eating but that stench is gonna linger, and when it keeps happening you just want to stop going to that restaurant.

This just feels like a big waste of money now.
