I would love to have a dialogue that said
“Currently Queued for Denravi Battlegrounds” when I was queued for it and hovered over the icon in the top left section of my screen. Instead of just “Currently Queued”
How are they a cosmetic thing if you give them a swiftness buff? No mounts, deal with it. We got waypoints.
why are you against mounts? valid points please
Here are my valid points.
1. Avatars can generally get anywhere quickly in the game no matter the size of the avatar. A huge Norn and a small Asura do not have a competitive advantage against each other (As long as no speed buffs are in effect of course as if one has a speed buff this is a moot point because of the enhanced running speed)
2. Mounts may seem small but on the development side of the coin take lots of resources to make. You have Charr, Asura, Slivari, Norn and Human characters. Would the creatures scale to the scale of the race? It would be funny to see a Asura riding a mount that looks to fit a norn but that would break immersion. By asking for mounts you are taking resources that can be used elsewhere (better content, new questlines, new dungeons, more polish on existing things, bug fixes) and diverting it.
3. If you give mounts benefits like faster movement speed and throw it into the BLTC it becomes “Pay to win” yes you can of course do the whole grinding for eventually having the mount. But then you have a system that must constantly beat the previous mount leading to a snowball effect. I dont think I’m allowed to give concrete examples in this but there are a few “FTP” games that are really “P2W” when it comes to mounts.
4. There is a sort of “Scale” to the individual races that I’ve noticed. Taller races have their locations effectively scaled to them. Take lions arch for example, the guide-rails are as tall as an asura on several sections. Reinforcing the fact that I’ve picked a short race to play. A mount would remove that appreciation for scale. Of course this goes without saying that an Asura has access to the power suit and depending on class can access say lich form and things. But for the sake of exploration, I rather be close to the ground.
thank you those are some very good reasons and i agree with some of them but i would still like to see them
and the pay to win thing if there was end game raids and such it would already be pay to win with the damage armor buffs you can pay for in the cash shop
I honestly would be 100% against them. We do not need ArenaNet following the norm of other MMOs. They promised they wouldn’t do that. We do not require some elite “I spent 400 hours grinding 800 of X item for the off chance that I get a rare mount” quest to feel special. I go out, a short little Asura, and punch a giant in the foot till he falls over dead I feel special. I go in a WvWvW match with a group of people and help take a fort by single-handedly keeping the enemy away from the front of the fort wall because of my expert use of the arrow cart, I feel epic.
I don’t want to be riding a shark, that is not epic. Thats just typical of MMOs looking to cash in on the playerbase in some way shape or form. We have legendary items, I want one when I hit 80. Been waiting years for GW2 sense I wrapped up redoing my necro from the ground up back in GW1 all the way to getting all my points for EoTn to get everything unlocked item wise. GW as a series makes you feel epic. I’ve defeated a god, a lich, a cursed traitorous assassin, I’ve defeated a dragon’s champion, stepped foot in orr, done tons of other things that make my story, my characters, and my collective history in GW epic.
If it was a bedtime story I told to my brother, he would be asking for it time and time again.

I want to dual a friend of mine. Keeps saying hes 80 to get me to play my game (I’m working on college right now) and comes up as not 80. Want this badly so I can knock him down a few pegs.
Will we have buddy keys to pass out for people that we may want them to try the game? I have a few friends that they would be perfect for. Will this be something to look forward to in the future?
