Flame Blast skill:
No longer double-detonates when the projectile expires naturally.
Turns off Detonate after the flame blast ball is gone.Little confused here. Does this mean the ball will simply vanish (and not blow up) once it reaches 600 range or will it still detonate on its own once it reaches max range?
Still a shame that the Flamethrower was left untouched apart from fixing the double-detonate; especially after seeing so many threads with good suggestions on improving it.
I think it will still blow up at the end of its path, but only once.
what does this means :
Automated Response trait: Grants immunity to conditions when the inflictor has over 100% duration.
I’m assuming that when an attacker had boosted his/her condition durations over 100% that Automated Response wasn’t working.
Bummer that they knocked Flamethrower down again. Trading the lame firewall for the double-pop is a huge net loss for the kit.
A good WvW player will find the most time and resource efficient way around that roadblock. In this case, overwhelm the PvP players with numbers. It only take a minute or two to do, and the road block is cleared without tying up a lot of resourses or making people run back from spawn from losing to a “fair fight.”
I’m sure saying this makes you feel good, but from having run with the PAXA folks for an evening a few days back, my experience was that it went more like this:
1. PAXA 5 man takes a camp
2. 20 invaders from NSP or GoM show up to take camp back, and PAXA 5 man kills all of them.
3. Move on to a different campThey did wipe once that night, but they also won against 5 or 6 groups with 4x their numbers. And they kept a pair of camps red pretty much the whole time. My impression is that the camp taking is mostly to attract “good WvW players” like you describe, but it still worked.
And honestly, my experience in WvW leads me to believe that something like 75% of the people there are really terrible at PvP. I’ve run into more than one staff ele who “fought” me one-on-one by spamming 1 while attuned to fire…
You completely missed the point of his post. The point wasn’t the “we zerg you” part, it was the “we don’t care about kills” part. Your percentage could certainly be true: maybe 75% of the players aren’t good PvPers, but the whole point of his post was that WvW, and the points in WvW, aren’t about being good PvPers.
Excellent, thanks! I knew I remembered something in patch notes, but I couldn’t find it.
That second patch note is confusing. I first read it as kits would have the best base damage available to my character (based on rarity of equipped weapon) but it’s actually saying that it’s the best base damage available to ANY character at that level(so not based on equipped weapon). I’m not sure I’m explaining that well.
Thanks again!
Hello!
I’m a relatively new engineer, and even though I looked quite a few pages back I didn’t find anything that seemed to address my question. How do equipped weapons affect kits?
- Is there a difference between having a rare rifle and an exotic rifle after I equip a kit (does the rarity level of the equipped weapon affect the damage or other effeciveness of the kit)?
- Sigils will affect kits right? A rifle carries one sigil, but two pistols or a pistol and a shield carry two. Do both sigils affect the kit?
Thanks!
I’d like to offer congratulations to HoD. It’s been a long hard road, with ten weeks of losses by an average of more than 350,000 points. I started WvW on HoD right around the time that streak started, and even though we were losing, even though I only have the time to be in WvW for a few hours every week, the commanders and other warriors on the server were (and continue to be) welcoming and respectful.
Low tiers don’t mean low skills; it doesn’t take long to figure that out when you see HoD (or other servers at low tiers) play. Low tiers mean more small group tactics. Low tiers mean individual contributions count for more. Even my part time contributions.
I’d also like to compliment DM and GoM for some great matchups over the past couple weeks. WvW is truly an entirely different game when the matchups are working.
Sincerely,
Sura Qilaq, Guardian
Dahlia Kauri, Necromancer
In addition Valenna, I think it’s worth noting that HoD’s 12 week, now 13 week, run of mostly monster losses is due directly to server transfers. Anyone choosing to transfer servers could and perhaps should take a look and a lesson from HoD; your transfer could effect the WvW of an entire server in a VERY significant way, and not for a short period of time. That’s not at all to say you shouldn’t do it, just that it should be a considered choice.
Certainly HoD is an outlier, or at least I hope so.
I don’t understand the tone you meant behind your text. It seems kind of hostile even though my response to Paul was nothing of the sort… I’m sorry if this is a misunderstanding. I didn’t want to create one. Just wanted to remind people of the multiple exits :/
that’s nice and all, but could you answer the question?
If you’ve been on Kaineng for longer than three weeks, there wouldn’t be any sort of high horse involved at all. We’ve been in the same position as GoM and HoD are in now. For months, not just for a week.
Not sure what that question or answer has to do with this week’s matchup, though.
FYI, HoD has lost the past 12 weeks by an AVERAGE score of over 360,000 points. That’s not counting this week. I sincerely hope you haven’t been in that same position over the past couple months.
GoM has slightly outnumbered the other servers in our matches lately, but by nowhere near the margin that the zerg guilds have provided to Kaineng.
Exactly. In fact, our first match with HoD and SF was really quite even and fun. And even when were dominating last week, our lead was nowhere near as extreme as what we’re seeing now. And note the word fun: the even matches have been by far the most enjoyable. Vastly uneven matches are not enjoyable for anybody.
But until free transfers are turned off and some sort of mechanic is added (i.e. a WvW lockout after transfer) to prevent this sort of debacle, we can expect to experience feast or famine in WvW. I.E., somewhat dominate one week, then get crushed the next. Unless you transfer around to find good matches every week, which is asinine.
I’m concerned that there’s going to be four servers that should be in tier 8, but only three slots. And that down the road what that’s going to mean is that servers will be playing for second place so they can stay in tier 8, where they’re having fun, rather than moving up to tier 7 where they get kicked and have no fun.
The number of the tier you’re in doesn’t matter. It’s the fun that matters.
Hello!
I’m purchasing three additional accounts, one for my spouse and each of my two kids, for Christmas. The price is right, and the interest is there, so I’m hoping they will come and join me in Tyria. Keeping in mind these will be four different serial codes, what would be the best way for me to register them?
- Should each be registered individually?
- Does each need a separate email address?
- Should they all be under my account somehow?
What family type options, if any, are there for registrations/accounts?
Thank you!
