First off I understand the whole ‘bonding with my character’ thing. My main not just a few pixels on the screen for me, she is her own character with a backstory. She isnt real, but thats not to say she isnt important to me.
As for your suggestion I disagree that a conversion is even needed. Reroll another character using the same name and looks etc and think of it as a rebirth of your main. Make up some story in your head that your main got injured during battle and couldnt be saved, but Asuran technology put him/her into another similar body. Give the new character some differences in appearance, saying the process isnt perfect.
The new character isnt actually new, its a new beginning for your main. Think of it in that way and youll realise that you arent losing a character, youre merely taking it down a different path. Its all about using your imagination
Thank you, I think I will try this
Just a question, is there a way to transfer items to different characters? I spent my heroic edition items on this, and I don’t want to lose it.(also crafting things)
because I can’t seem to mail items to myself.
I don’t care about power, I care about fun. My life in gw2 is just as exciting as my actual life, and now I just don’t have a reason to live this half anymore. I become depressed whenever I try to play it, yet I cannot just abandon this game. It’s a part of me now.
Please don’t criticize my decision, I want some feedback.
Well to be honest since you asked for feedback, if it were even to happen I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Your best bet since you are so miserable and depressed at this point is to just reroll. If in some chance Anet does implement such a tool it will probably happen so far from now that you could have leveled up a new toon with the same race, same name, but different profession several times over by then.
Like I said, I’ve already bonded with this character of mine.
Also, how hard can it be to program one little item that just changes your class?
The thing is, after I discovered how awesome elementalist was, I felt so much regret that I picked mesmer for my main that I can’t even play the game anymore without a sad feeling. I know it’s miserable but its the truth.
Please ArenaNet. I beg you.
Why do you feel regret for rolling a mesmer?
1. They are ridiculous in spvp
2. You bring a truck ton of utility based on your build
3. Clones

How about making a “Soul Merger” where you can merge 2 characters. Your alt has to be your lvl or higher(so you have experience in that class) and you can get their class and keep everything else.
That sound fair?
? what do you mean?
For a class change in the shop.
Now before you guys just say “Roll another character”,
I have bonded with this character already. This little asura is “me” and I do not want to be stuck with a class I do not enjoy playing.
Also I spent my heroic edition items on him.
Arenanet, if you really care about all the players who are in this amazing game, Please take the time to implement this small feature. It would be greatly appreciated by many people, not just me.
I want to support this game. I don’t want to see it die, but nothing really interests me in the shop. This is the only thing I truly want anymore. So please.
Think of the players.
Also if anyone from ArenaNet reads this, read the whole thread. I put more info in there.

anyone else? I haven’t heard from people in a while.
Seriously no. I have been leveling enough characters as it is without wanting to go through another 4 level 80s to get max stats, wtf…
I’ve changed it.
That’s a lot better imo.

I recently decided to reroll my warrior as an asura, for obvious reasons. ;P
This system would make it a lot easier, since I am forced to buy more slots or delete existing characters if I’m in need of something new.Oh yes, how do you picture this? As a gem store purchase with unlimited use or with some kind of fee? And would you allow switching back to classes/races that you already leveled to 80 on that character or others or make them locked again?
Class and race changing in the gem store was suggested many times, but ArenaNet said they wouldn’t do it.
That’s why I came up with this idea.
any1 else? I would love some more feedback!

Nice idea, but without the benefits. We don’t need power gaps. Would love it if you would revive for example as a medium armor user your gear would be transformed into the medium equivalent of your previous stuff. That would be awesome. Don’t forget it would reset your PS. Cool idea, gets more awesome the more I think about it.
Great idea. Edited.
K so scrap the stat increase idea. What do you guys think we should get from rebirth?
Thank you everyone for your feedback!
I hope to get an arenanet employee to see this thread!
The thing is, this game is powerful enough to make your character feel like yourself. Would you kill your kid because he didn’t live up to your expectations? The rebirth idea makes it so that you don’t just abandon your character.
Hmm..what if your bank is full when you decide to be ‘reborn’? Where does everything go then? What happens to your armor and/or weapons if you change from say, light to heavy or medium? What happens to cultural armor/weapons? What happens to your Personal Story and your Home Instance? What about Personality? Do these things reset to zero or the equivalent?
How much programming code do you think this involves? Would it be cost-effective for ArenaNet? Should it, instead, be something one would purchase?
Then maybe we would get mailed the excess items?
My goal for this is that you can change some of the core decisions for your character. As your typical noob, I have made some choices regarding class and race that I regretted, but I already bonded with that character. That little asura mesmer is “Me”, and I don’t want to be stuck with a class that I do not enjoy.
I want it to be a fun and innovative way to personalize your character, instead of a “Pay 10$ to change this thing.”(of course that’s fine too, but it is hardly likely they will do that."
Changed 15% to 10%
You keep your crafting recipes but not your lvl.
Thanks for your feedback!
So everyone who is looking for class or race changes, I propose a fun way to do it, yet costs no money.
At lvl 80, at a specific area, you can pay an amount of gold, karma, and skill points to go through a rebirth process. When that happens, you go through the create your character process again, while retaining your name.
What you keep:
-All your currencies
-All your bags and items(transferred to the bank)
-Your world completion*
-Your crafting materials and recipes, but not your level
Benefits:
-You get to change your class and race, getting a new personal storyline based on the choices you make.
-If you change classes, your armor transforms into the equivalent(heavy to light, etc.)
For example, if you were an Asura Mesmer before you were reborn, you would have a small chance to create an illusion that deals low damage when you cast a skill, and once per day you can get into one of those Asuran golems.
Open to suggestions!
*You get all your world exploration Exp and waypoints back when you enter the area, not right at the start.
