The thing that finally did the trick for me was changing one of the files. For all of those with the same problem → go to the folder where your gw2.exe is, find the file local.dat and change it to local.old

I don’t know If it’s a lucky coincidence or a real deal but after doing just that I could play the game (After having the same problem of trying to start the game and getting either black screen or freeze and reboot).

Oh thank you. Now I’ve progressed to the point where sometimes I can play, and sometimes My computer freezes and reboots.

Thank you for your answer, did all of it besides the repair option but unfortunately it didnt change a thing + on top of that I can’t run the repair option … When I add the -repair at the end it tells me that the path “…/gw2.exe-repair” is invalid.

I’ve been playing GW2 on the same computer since the launch, never did I have any problems with it. Last time I played was 10 hours ago, now when I try to start the game my computer either freezes and reboots or I can hear the background music but the screen is black. I have changed nothing on my computer in the past months and I always played on high details so I know it’s not my system requirements fault. This is driving me crazy, please help.
