@evilbottom: The XP seems to go up as you level because the XP required to level also increases. Crafting XP scales so as you level you get a higher raw amount of XP in terms of the number that pops up onto the screen, but the same percentage increase as you got at lower levels. I hope that makes sense.
A cash on delivery mail type would solve the trading problem, for the most part.
There is an under-supply of gold in the game at the moment, (because nobody’s had a decent chance to build up a good supply of it yet) and an over-supply of certain crafting materials. You should do one or both of the following:
1) Focus on selling crafting materials that are rare enough that nobody is over-supplied, or finished products that are so in-demand that people will spend their small amounts of silver on them.
2) Earn silver yourself and buy materials at the same-as-vendor prices where you know they will eventually go up, then bank them to sell later when you can get a decent margin.
And yes, I agree that Arenanet should be waiving the fee or increasing the minimum price to include their fee for those situations when people are trying to sell items at the vendor cost. (like, say, wood)
Greatsword is an excellent option, so long as you can keep enemies at range- I suggest also taking blink with it. Staff is a great AoE option- dropping your 5 skill on top of bunched enemies spreads a lot of coniditions, and the staff’s bouncing is great against packs, plus the fact that the clone pushes you backwards can be very useful.
Feedback is excellent against ranged enemies, as Budg says. Try to drop it a little bit before they fire. It will centre on your target when you use the skill.
Always target the enemy you think will go down last when cloning yourself or making phantasms, especially in the early game, that way you don’t have to shatter just because you picked a target that was half-dead.
Finally, learn when shattering will kill an enemy outright, or when it will leave them just one shot from being killed, and in one-on-ones, shatter at that point. Keep in mind the extra HP or armour of some mobs, and the fact that your shatters do a lot more damage the closer you are to having three illusions.
That should be a good start.
Occasionally I find myself “slipping” below the surface and end up trapped underground- I can move as if I’m swimming, but the surface is solid. Do I need to take a screenshot of where I am if this happens again? Is this a known issue?
