Must have been a bad dd ele in the video, if he lost against a staff ele.
I never lost against a staff ele on my dd ele.
And I can’t imagine that this will happen anytime. But maybe someone proves me wrong.
I just bought the razor naga ( http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-naga )
so i have easy access to keys 1-12 and m1-m5. my question is, can i play the game with only this mouse? i have 1-10 as skills, 11 and fire, 12 as water, m4 as air ( key right below the scroll ) , m5 as earth ( key right below m4 ) right mouse button and left mouse button stay the same, but when pressed together act as moving forward. I also have m3 (the scroll button) to use as jump, dodge, or f, but i can only map one to the key. This is where the problem comes in. with ANY other class i could make it work (although engineer might have a similar, but not as difficult problem), but i can only use 1 of those 3 on my mouse, unless i get rid of a different button ( autoattack might give me one more option)
Can I play efficiently with this setup, or is there a different setup you’d recommend?also on a slightly related topic, anybody know of a good Elementalist guide?
I have a naga as well. Been using mine for three years. Yes, you can use it to play an elementalist, and you won’t have to bind any attacks to your keyboard. My attunements are alt-1-4. Super easy to cycle through all your attacks. I’ve found myself trying to press abilities before the previous one has gone all the way off, haha.
Exactly like me. Only difference i have attunements on Ctrl + 1,2,3,4

I think the only build with higher skill cap is the good old fresh air SD build.Where is the big skill in mashing all possible buttons at once and one shorting people or be killed.
Its lame.. None of those one shot build needs much skill.
Skill is reacting to your enemy’s moves and taking the right decisions.
I never understood where the skill should be in one hitting anybody..I play dd ele since beta BTW.
If you say that you play DD since beta how can you argue about SD?
I tried almost every possible build ele could have, and i find SD fresh air the most difficult, i’ll explain you why:
-in DD you can refuel your life every 10 seconds in cleric, or get 50% of your life back in celestial, having a class that can self sustain that much make everybody a decent DD user, the combo is simply pushing button one after another and the only thing that is hard to drop is fire grab (3-4-5-F1-3-5) and if you fail to use the initial combo is not a big problem at all, you simply start the fight on par instead that with a good advantage. Most of the DD users have 3 cantrips: vigor, regeneration, stun breakers, stability, protection etc etc…
-SD fresh air on the other hand what offer? an initial opening combo that will NEVER kill an opponent if he is at full life, it will kill almost everything that is below 50% by the way, but your duty is the same as a thief IF you are bad. Being good with SD means that you’ll be able to sustain damage after using the combo, and be able to win 1v1, and believe me, is not that easy if you don’t have any condi removal, 1 stun breaker, 16k life and 1800 armor, and more important, you need to be sure that your combo will hit every time, so that means that you constantly need to watch: blinds, aegis, retaliation, possible LOS obstructions, defensive skills like protect me or defy pain, thieves around that could kill you in 2 seconds etc…
I personally use warrior, mesmer and ele, and i always found the “all or nothing” builds way harder than others, do you remember the frenzy 100b warriors from the Q1 of 2013? That build was for the most noobs out there, or for the most good. The difference was about be able to drop a lucky combo from time to time, or being a a death machine that could wreck anything in 3,5 seconds. WellSD fresh air is the same imo
I played SD and staff too. Every good ele player should know what an ele is capable off.
I don’t say SD doesnt need skill. I talk of oneshot builds in general. And ele only have SD as a one shot build.
Or do you see that as big skill too instantly kill someone..?
For me thats not skill. Its lame. My opinion.

I just had a good idea how to fix stealth for thieves.
I think the main problem is that they can perma stealth and reset fights whenever they want.
Fix:
When using Heatseeker while already stealthed drain all initiative or apply revealed.
That would fix perma stealth and the stealth heart seekers to run away.
But still allow to gain stealth for attacking with blind field.
Additionally a missd backstab should cancel stealth.
to spent 1200 gems on the new dagger skins.. majorys dagger..?
I ask myself that question because i dont know which way anets decided to go with elementalists.
I really love my dd ele, i play it since bwe 1 until now most time solo roaming.
i didnt jumped on the op bandwagon, i stick to my ele proudly, even if that means i have to lose on a 1v1 if my opponent is equal skilled and plays <insert random class here>.
But i dont wanna invest 1200 gems, if anet decided to further nerf eles..
What do you guys think..:
-is it worth it..?
-Does anet deserves it?

raise your voice!
dont let them destroy one of our few viable D/D builds!
Dear ANET, nobody is against build diversity.
But dont just nerf arcan traitline that the wrong way forcing people to not invest in arcane.
You should give us good traits in other traitline and not kill our old builds.
Hell, were at the bottom anyway. if this patch goes live as it is, then D/D ele ist dead.
Just remove the class from the game.
sincerely Nelisa (850 hours played as D/D ELE on Dzagonur mainly WVW)
as a long time dd ele, i can just admit what the previous eles said.
Its a big nerf, i think the nerf is actually bigger then the buffs.
i am playing my ele since beta.
I lost to other classes knowing i didnt made a mistake and the enemy made big mistakes.
I won fights by outplaying my enemies, while they didnt pay attention to my attacks.
i was ok with that, i didnt come to the forums an complained, even if we were under powered compared to other classes.
Ele is anets stepchild i got used to it and i sticked to my ele.
but i slowly lose hope. if i understand the patch notes right, we will be less sustainable.
the joke is we werent very sustainable before, so now even worse.. nice one..
hopefully i get my engineer up until the nerf patch arrives.
well anet.. good job.. i was playing to much anyway.
