Vault & Inventory Micro Management

the account shared vault is not what it could be when it comes to being user friendly. with the game aging, a better and streamlined micro managment of vault space would be nice to have

there’s a few suggestions that came to my mind, which i think could embedded or applied rather easily, as they’re in the game already (as in: naming live for the Guild Bank already, sorting live in the Inventory, …).

  • Priority for taking materials when crafting
    One concern bugging me recently, happens while hitting the crafting table: when a material is subtracted from a stack for crafting, possible Bank stacks have priority over the Collections stacks. This should be right the opposite, as with a full Collectibles stack you can’t deposit anymore on the run. Yes, i stack up on cooking ingredients for our favorite food when they’re cheap on the market.
    Example: One full stack of 250 Mithril Ore each in the Bank and Collections tab. Crafting, say, 25 Mithril Ingots leaves you with 200 Mithril Ore in Bank, 250 in Collections. Go out after that, harvest a Mithril Ore, no deposition of collectible. You have forgot to swap the now non-filled Bank stack with the still full Collectibles stack, go back to the bank !
    Suggestion: Prioritize the Collections Tab over the Bank Tab when it comes to automatic withdrawal of materials during the crafting process, similar to Inventory over Vault/Collection as it is live already.
  • Auto arrangement and sorting of Bank items
    You got auto arrangement and sorting in the game already, why not extend or streamline it to the vaults?
    Example: i would want to auto-sort items in the Bank Bags as the following – Bag1: Crafting materials, Bag2: Consumables (Boosts, Containers, Potions, …), Bank 3: Runes and Sigils, …
    Suggestions: Enable Vault sorting by Rarity and by Item Category (comparable to TP search categories).
  • Naming options for Bank bags
    You got individual naming of Bank tabs in game already (individual naming of Guild Bank Bags, of friends in Contacts, standard names in the Collectibles). It would be nice to enable individual naming all across the board. Why not for the Account Bank or even ?
    Example: yeah, you may guessed it already – i want to name the Bank bags as the following – Bag1: Crafting materials, Bag2: Consumables (Boosts, Containers, Potions, …), Bank 3: Runes and Sigils, …
    Suggestion: Enable individual naming for all Bags types, let us name them in Inventory and Vault like we want. Editing with no text resets the standard names (like the individual editing of Contact account names).
  • Option to close all Bags at once and/or find a particular one
    I’m missing an option to close all Bags at once, or even better, having access to setting a standard for individual tabs. This could be streamlined for all bags, similar to the Inventory Tab which nowadays persists through closing the client.
    Example: I want my invisible bags to be open while my Oiled Leather Bag stays closed when i open my character’s inventory. Works. But i would like my Bank Bags being shown on opening the Tab, while my Collectible Bags are closed when i open this Tab, or i just want to have the Rare Crafting Materials shown with others closed. I would like to do individual searches in all of them.
    Suggestion: Stream the line Add a ‘Find Bag’ drop-down menu for the Account Vault. Add a search field for Collectibles. Let me close all my bags easily with 1-2 clicks (for instance via a gear-wheel like in the Inventory), and/or let me do individual settings for each bag there is.

Currencies

shameless bump with a little summary and some personal remarks:

  • Introduce a Wallet like system
    Store every single currency in a Wallet like tab or an extra window.
    Currently there’s a lot of currencies in game that may easily extend the vault cap of 250 (WvW/dungeon tokens, commendations …). There’s enough items to buy that are more expensive than a stack of 250 (WvW/Fractal/Dungeon gear). Have the currency have a high cap, so i don’t have to use an extra vault slot every 4th time you’ll run guild members run through explorable dungeons.
  • Distinction between Soulbound/Account Bound, Micromanagement
    Keep all the currencies like they are, separate the Wallet in two categories, Soulbound and Account Bound.
    Should there be need, further categories may be added. Micromanagement is reasonable. If it’s a Wallet tab in the Heroes panel, check boxes to highlight currency as it is shown now with Gold/Karma/Laurels/Gems, as suggested by Paraka, seems to be a nice feature.
    Making some of them removable on demand would sort out one smaller problem i see regarding this topic: Badges of Honor needed for crafting Legendary Weapons.
  • Future possibilities and tweaking
    Further addition of currency, no problem (imo it’s enough currencies now tho). Generalizing from Soulbound to Account bound, no problem. I personally like the point about Karma being account shared (Liquid Karma items are “shared” Karma already, could be done all the way). Same could go even for gold (which i dislike however). Account bound consumables (like XP boosts) could be in the wallet and so on. Although i can see why this might not be wanted.
    In short, it has space for further improvement suggested by various posters here. ArenaNet done changes on Soulbound versus Account Bound retroactively already and added new currency, so there shouldn’t be technical issues, going inline with the game design.

I’m also against reducing dungeon tokens to one type. It won’t solve the current problem of currency eating up too much space. Alternate currency is good, as it adds to diversity. And diversity is what games like GW2 are about.

For GW2 being a MMO, with lots of alternate currencies flying around, the introduction of a wallet in my opinion is a logical step . Like Rift mentioned above, LotRO is another game that introduced a Barter Wallet system not too long ago and it works very well.

I can confirm that. seems ‘Escort Magister Izzmek to the site of the first signal beacon’ is not starting properly. i tried to talk to him to start, but there was no dialogue option to do so.

Also can confirm that we’re not able to enter Arah dungeon, for a few days now. the entrance is blocked.

Server is Far Shiverpeaks (EU).
