I can give you the ways it would work, for example, very much like fractals, rewards/loot could be standard greens/rares and then ontop of that , high performance ascended weapons or accessories, maybe things like backpacks, and other cosmetic only rewards such as tier armour sets with standard level 80 exotic stats. This would stop the game from becoming highly un-balanced in WvW and certainly keep the game to an appropriate level of fairness.
Secondly, low level players would have this to work towards, aswell as everything else that’s going on, and the best part about these would be that no one would force you to do them.. with so much else going on it’s not like ‘if youre not raiding then you suck.’
The raids would not be a zerg, that’s the whole point. They’d have mechanics and tactics, killing the last boss in the ‘raid’ would be prestigeous and could reward titles or unique pets.
Few other bits and pieces that i forgot to mention.. kinda rushed my post.
I know that you (arena net) are involving the nightmare and scarlet briar more and more, and the whole toxic thing, this could definetly be involved and would make for a great first ‘raid’, if you did decide to follow this up.
One more thing, when i said about gearing through fractals, the main reason of doing that is to obtain AR, and therefore these higher difficulty instances should feature AR, or something similar.
Hey everyone, this isn’t as much as a suggestion as a general discussion i’d like to start, saying that, i’d love to see it implemented in the game, despite the amount of dev work it would take.
At this point i’d like to say, just so people don’t think i’m hating on the game or anything, that I love Gw2 as it is, and at current, it’s definetly my favourite mmo and is very well designed.
The topic here is PvE, and alot of you probably know what i’m suggesting.. raiding, in a loose sense of the word. let’s be honest though, endgame is why a huge percentage of people play mmo’s, they never end, that’s kind of the point. While Gw2 never ends, with things like fractals, nightmares within, living stories and kick kitten world bosses (Tequatl) once you’ve done it, you’ve kinda done it…
What I am suggesting, or rather just discussing, is some form of higher difficulty dungeon/world events that would require getting a set group together and gearing, preparing and taking it down. The best part about this is (where WoW ultimately fails) is the gearing aspect is already in place and is flawless, going through the story modes of dungeons, to the higher difficulty expl. modes, and then to fractals has a great feel about it, like you’re actually doing something fun, and you’re getting rewarded. Not to mention the way fractals demand gearing through the levels, and demand higher skill levels the further you climb.
The structure is all there for this already, I don’t really know how many people would welcome this and how many would hate it, but there is no better feeling than after wiping for hours, days, weeks on end, downing that boss and hearing the screams of everyone else in the same position of you on teamspeak.
They wouldn’t even have to be tied into the story, they could be an extension of fractals, going back in time to slay some uber-gigantic evil thing that is so totallly threatening everything and the world as we know it..
Anyway guys, tell me what you think, and good job on making a really enjoyable game arena net.
I actually do like this idea. I’m pretty new to Gw2 but have played the ‘ranger’ class in WoW for several years in hc raiding, you’d be surprised how similar alot of the abilities can be, that goes for alot of mmo’s and classes. What i have found is that yes, the ‘ranger’ is a very selfish class, while you can get huge amounts of survivability for yourself (if played right) there’s not much you can do to help others… be it a raid cooldown or an aoe heal/ signet.
The only reason this is a ‘problem’ in Gw2 is because there is no specified healer or tank, so each player is care-bearing the other (as and when needed) I do like this idea, and typically ‘ranger’ is one of those classes that is played ‘wrongly’ alot.
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with ranger as it is, IF you play it right, but these changes could make for a really sound, slightly more simple class and eliminate some of that speculation that rangers are useless.
