I’m finding I greatly miss the ability to find random people to go with me on a dungeon raid. I play very casually and because of my RL lifestyle puging is simply the best option. I’ve tried scheduling dungeon raids with guilds and as fun as that is puging is still the way I get it done 90% of the time. The problem is there are a number of dungeons on my server that just aren’t popular enough to pug through sometimes. I wish I could leverage the “join” feature to find a group somewhere on some server so I could make it through the dungeon.
It’d be really great if GW2 would have a tool to allow players to queue up for dungeon parties across servers and leverage the “join” feature more intuitively. Seeing as dungeons are instanced for only party members anyhow it seems logical to enable this kind of participation more intuitively. Also it’s a win-win. The tool could select a server that players would join to that is the least utilized thus acting as a sort of load-balancing tool as well. Meanwhile the players never have to know or care that they were running a dungeon on another shard. In the case of a contested dungeon, simply “grey” or make those dungeons unavailable to select on the servers where they’re currently contested. A player (if the dungeon was uncontested) would be allowed to seek a group across servers and then go on their merry way questing while they wait. The server would roll groups every 5-10 minutes to allow the queue of waiting players to grow large enough for balancing etc. Have the tool notify players when a group is found so that they can run around and do things in the world while they’re waiting. In the case of contested dungeons require the player to stay within a certain range of the dungeon to be allowed to use the tool. (Forcing them to keep the area clear and participate in the events that prevent it from becoming contested)
If this is a good suggestion here are a few more:
-Allow it to Optionally prefer guildmates even if you don’t currently “represent” those guilds. Thus preserving guildie participation over a pug. A point of contention among many guilds. Perhaps even allow a player to optionally REQUIRE guildmates.
-Allow players to indicate their proposed role(s) (support, dmg, etc) and allow them to elect a leader. Adding an interface to standardize this process is nice as it suggests that the party create a hierarchy.
-Create an Option to balance the party in a way that encourages success. Max ttl party xp/stats/ preferably divided into bins. Perhaps give a find bonus or something to encourage experienced players to fight alongside dungeon novices.
-Allow anonymous and random player rating survey at the end of a dungeon. Do not drop this survey at every dungeon completion but randomly. Filling out the survey gives a small karma bonus to the participating player, while receiving an overall good rating from your peers adds to an achievement line as well as a bigger karma bonus. Thus encouraging good sportsmanship among players in the dungeon scene.
-Allow players to use this tool as a part of a pre-existing party. A party leader would have the ability to pug additional party members using the same tool.
-Allow guildmates to see which other guildmates are in a queue for a dungeon. This could be part of the status feature. Just a way to indicate what guildie is in line for which dungeon.
