What I am hearing, for the most part, is: “Don’t be mad, guys! Anet is giving refunds! No harm no foul!” and “Stop being so selfish, they should leave the flame kissed armor in game!”

Can we stop picking fights with each other and come up with an idea for a solution? We can all agree that the flame armor release in general was one of the biggest mistakes to date. A reskin, to start it off, is insulting to these players. But in the end that wouldn’t matter. People could just not buy it. But then, one of those reskins was nearly identical to a rare, exclusive armor set at nearly half price. These skins suddenly caused a ripple in the community. The t3 armor just wasn’t worth the exorbitant price when someone could grab a fiery version of it for ten bucks.

BUT—The solution is absolute bull. Just change the skins that we bought… just give us a rare gem only to replace it with crap some time later. (To be more accurate, it is probably better compared to being replaced with a lottery scratcher. It could be something good, but probably not.)

We should be more vocal about wanting unique skins with cool effects and fantastic design then how stupid we feel our fellow players are. All of the thousands of people who have posted or upvoted on these threads were negatively affected. Would not our time be better spent on suggesting a nicer solution for the problem?

For those that think this IS a nice solution, please imagine they changed your armor right after you bought it. Disregard circumstances. At the face value, we are looking at arenanet changing the skins after they have been bought. Sure, we will get a refund, but I, for one, purchased other things to go with this armor. Just a refund won’t at all quell my feelings for the whole situation.

How can the rage be minimized? I know our community can think of the solution.

This thread is getting less and less civil, and it is bugging me. In truth, both sides (those that felt devalued by the flamekissed armor and those that feel ripped off at it’s destruction) are at a loss due to this. I loved the flamekissed skin, but I am sad it is going away. So many people though are attacking other players saying “You’re a hypocrit! You’re selfish!” It is coming from both sides.

First, the other side. I fully understand where you are coming from. You spent hundreds of hours on the gold for that armor. If anet made a better twilight for fifty bucks, it would be outrageous. They shouldn’t have done that.

Now, let me address my point of view, from my side. I don’t think players should feel like they wasted their time to buy t3 armor. Yes, the only difference in the skin is that it is now on fire. But if a completely different, new, entirely appealing skin came about, how many would say “Boy, I love that armor, and I’d love to have it, but I have my t3 armor so I won’t buy it.” That seems silly to me. This game progressively gives a reason to get rid of your current look and change it, and this isn’t very different. I do not have the t3 armor, but I wanted it since the start of the game. Now anet made a way for an unlucky fool like me to get it.
… and just as quickly, they are taking it away.

That said, the real issue here is with the whole idea. Why the HELL did we get 3 skins that were already in game, with some particle effects? Yes, the particle effect armors look really pretty, and the flamekissed was to die for, but reusing skins is a little ridiculous. We know anet has the capacity to make some beautiful armors . (In fact… why don’t the ascended weapons/armors have such a fantastic effect?) The real outrage should not be that they devalued t3 armor. It should not be that the players with t3 armor are “selfish.” It should not be that players who want the flamekissed armor are “hypocrits.” It should be that anet used a great concept on recycling two common skins, and one really rare one.

Forgive me for saying this, but I am very displeased with the decision to change the armor. It could go well, if the new armor looks great, but right now I am upset. The reason I made an elementalist as my first character was because I saw the human tier 3 cultural armor on the character select screen. Why did I not buy the t3 armor? I am poor in game. I could have, at one point, but it is hard to justify spending so much. I was content with my decision. Then, yesterday, I found this armor. I bought it instantly. What is better than t3 human armor? Human t3 armor on fire. Yet so many people are mad because it is a reused skin. I haven’t heard much about the other two classes. Also reused skins (and not so great looking in my opinion). If the flame kissed armor is brought down to the standard of the other two skins, I will be very sad. Yes, the refund will help, but the joy of my new armor will be gone.

All I can say is this—I really hope anet can make a replacement skin that is on par with the beauty I am dressed in now. Otherwise, a little (just a little) of my love for this game will die with my favorite skin to date.
