UI issue here?

Joining Commander in WvW

BIMBLE.7952

Everything was running smooth in WvW: being able to join up, locate a commander and then click on the tag on the map and be given the option to join the group…

But, since yesterday, I can no longer do this. If I click normally I get no pop up menu on the tag; if I rapidly click, one may appear but, it won’t allow me to join…

Any way of fixing this or, a work-around? My son’s is working fine.

Thanks in advance.

I think “beastgate” needed a taste of humble pie and got it this week. Well done TC and JQ.

By “humble pie” I believe you mean that you were sick of beating beaten over and over by a superior force and have fallen to merging two weaker, inferior forces. That has nothing to do with BG’s mentality in WvW but, rather highlights you as a bad sportsman and an inferior player.

Good day to you.

BIMBLE.7952

I’ve been around since the start and I have only ever logged in for the WvW aspect of GW2… well, in the early days, I did a little PvE but, after finding WvW, I never looked back. I love it.

Which leads me onto something I’ve found to be rather intriguing: how can JQ and TC – without a sign of embarrassment or, even trying to cover up their deceitful and cowardly tactics – wish to partake in a clear 2 v 1 against BG…?

I mean, the joy of WvW is having 3-way epic battles. This has only proved one undeniable fact: that both servers lack the skill to beat BG!

I am sure that many JQ and TC are trying their best to “find it amusing” – to band together – but, take a look closely at it: it’s pretty embarrassing – sending a message across every server that JQ and TC (once well respected and still, holding some mighty foes) – are now comprised of cowards and their only single chance of dominating the finest server there is, is to rally together.

WvW is about the strategy, the surprise battles, the triumphs and yes, even the disasters and failures. But, what you have done this week – TC and JQ – for that, you should hold your head in shame for you have only accomplished one thing, you have highlighted yourselves as unskilled cowards and deep down, I know that you are not! Shame on you both…!

Take care all.

Also yeah it may be hard to get into jade quarry guys but that’s because we’re the best, being number 1 is a tough road you know.

I’m from BG server and you have made me smile. Come here while I pat you on the head.

You. sir are not the best. When BG take a rest – as sometimes we do – we smile while we see you rush in to grab some wins. As you can see this week, we’ve decided to spank you, just to let you know who is the rightful master at this table…

Now run along and stop spreading your little white lies to make yourself feel better. Good lad…

Again…just don’t play today. Or you could work on monthly – that just reset. There are plenty of options available to you without getting your balls in a twist.

To Teratus: WvW Tournament 2 is pretty active right now and a lot of people aren’t happy about the bobbleheads there.

It might be a bug, though, come to think of it – since the effect is removed elsewhere in the game.

My “balls” are not “in a twist”, as per your amazing grammatical insight into my current emotional state.

I am also aware that there are other things I could do, but, is that the height of your opinion on this matter?

My case is stated to you people who do not get it: introduce options in future to those who are not as easily amused. And to the handful of spiteful juveniles who think it amusing that people voice an opinion and seek to twist such opinions – calling others whingers – you have only highlighted yourselves as incredibly ignorant and childish.

That’s my last post you will no doubt be pleased to see.

Options make everyone happy.
Stating opinions is not “whinging” or “getting upset” it is using a forum for what it is intended.
Anyone who weeks to suppress opinions through ridicule is ignorant to the highest degree and lacks the educational wherewithal to enter into adult debates.

I really don’t see the issue here tbh. I get that you don’t like the bobbleheads, which is fair enough, but unless one is truly addicted to GW2, how bad is it really? I assume this’ll only last today, after which we’ll return to normal. It’s not that I can’t see the inconvenience to some, but claiming Anet is FORCING this on people? It’s not that I don’t see the principal aspect of this, but from a practical POV, it’s just 24 hours. 24 hours of different gameplay. In a game nobody is forcing us to play. Anywho, I doubt Anet is gonna do anything about it. And if you’d like an idea of people’s opinion on this, compare the amounts of threads on the forums. So far, a majority likes this. But every man is entitled to his opinion, mine is just that this isn’t worth “fixing”.

You don’t get the point and then you say, you get that we don’t like it.

Your opinion is that you understand neither and yet, understand both camps of opinion.

Your opinion is that it is "not worth ‘fixing’ " and so, I ask why? If two camps of opinion could be pleased by an option being introduced to such additions in future, then why, pray tell, would that not be a worthy thing…?

Re-logging is fine: joining WvW – which is what I play – initialises it once more.

Playing as my Charr Warrior with cultural armor: the head is gigantic.

Playing as my Hunter: the pet gets right in the way.

I never play PvE and only play WvW and, for me, it is annoying.

I am truly happy that some enjoy it. However, I dislike players who call those who do NOT want to play in this manner, whingers. Particularly, Draknar.5748, who seems to get a sadistic kick out of seeing other players not enjoying this. I simply don’t care about his opinion, as he gets satisfaction from judging people with differing opinions. History shows us that people like him have caused an enormous amount of bigotry around the world… (Don’t bother replying Draknar.5748, from your obviously unimportant job, I know your type).

I am asking for an option – at the very least, the next time such a things as this is forced down our throats – because I want to play GW2 in my way! And to the players – like VOLKON.1290 – who tell us to just get on with things or go away and not waste forum space – then I ask you: what are forums for if not to air your opinions just like… yes…just like you did here, wasting more space…?

I’m happy for those who enjoy this. Sincerely, I am.
I’d like to see a disabling option in the future. For me and those that would like this.
I could not care less – even if I tried – for those who mysteriously grow hostile over opposing opinions. Grow up!

Take care.

So, it seems that some people just simply can’t get enough of it – the “bobble heads” addition for 01 April – and, I don’t want to take any of that joy away from any of you: more power to you and I’m glad you’re amused.

Me, however. I do not enjoy having this forced upon me. Not giving me the option to remove it (and no, changing times/zones does NOT help me) is beyond the joke!

As stated, more power to those that enjoy it but, those that do not also have a valid point and wish to be able to flick this off in options.

NOTE Do not bother to exert your precious energy to try to tell me to cheer up – or some such nonsense as it would only be meaningless and judgmental drivel. Cheers.

This should be optional and it is not in the least bit funny to me, as I am not five years of age.

Take no notice of those people who have responded negatively to you. Forums are filled with people who have a sardonic and bitter outlook so, it is no surprise that your posts pulled in some of them…

I agree with everything you have said. You have spoken eloquently and succinctly so, how your thread can be termed as a “troll thread” is ludicrous and the person who made it should be utterly ignored, having only highlighted their own ignorance.

Thanks for making this thread.

Is it possible to have one character on an American server while also having the rest of my characters on European servers? Or, if I was to transfer across to the US servers of my choosing, would that transfer my whole account and, thereby, transfer ALL of my characters…?

I think the comment regarding a lack of skills being rewarded, later in the game – other then buffs/boons, etc – is certainly something which could easily be addressed by the devs.

In fact, as development moves forward after the release, I am certain that we will eventually see more skills (and other things which will give rewards to higher level characters) being released.

OP, I am not sure if you have done so yet (I haven’t checked) but, it would be prudent to place your suggestions in the Suggestion area of this forum: your comments are valid and, if you are feeling there is ‘something’ missing then your comments may well bring about change that will help others.

Alter appearance after character creation

This is certainly something which is required. I take great pride in trying to create a character that looks – in my opinion – really great.

In Star Wars Galaxies (SWG), there was a certain profession (I can’t, for the life of me, recall what the name of the profession was) but, in essence, it allowed one player to alter the various aesthetic aspects of another character.

The person wanting the change would make the changes which were available to their face (a range of changes which varied, depending upon the overall experience level of the player’s profession) using various sliders in a pop-up window, altering their features accordingly. When the changes were made, according to their requirements, payment for this service was offered and the transaction/service was finalised.

The people offering these services became part of that community hub – that place to go to where people gathered – and this helped foster a tighter, more interactive community.

At the least, I would like to see a NPC offering the option to change the look of our characters. If possible, I would love the devs to run with the SWG model – as they are breaking boundaries elsewhere with their innovative approach to the tired old MMO model – and give us something that adds another layer of depth and community. I trust them, whatever they choose to do…

Don't get it...

A lot of people have become used to getting their hands held and told where they should go and quest next and the game points them in the right direction, pats them on the head and sends them on their merry way…

This game releases you into a beautifully realised fantasy world and says, “Go play! Enjoy yourself!”

The amount of freedom and depth is spellbinding. I love that the game mechanics foster cooperation and, by default, help to break that barrier between you and another random player, that may be happening past on the same route: it wants you to group up; it wants you to make friends.

Personally, I couldn’t care less about the whingers. Let them work themselves up and then, hopefully, leave. Let them return to WoW – cultivating their gear, crunching stats and calculating damage/healing output ratios, let them prepare to play as a panda (!) – their loss to this community is no loss whatsoever.

I think I’ve found ‘the’ game that I’ve been looking for, all these years. I’ve played MMO’s for over 10 years and have played a whole lot of them and this one is still ticking boxes for me.

Have fun. I’ll be at your side, in-game, no doubt…

I loved my little Asura elementalist but, I started seeing more and more awesome looking human races running about the world, adorned in some of the finest kit and looking just downright great. So, I bit the bullet and re-rolled: it hurt at first and I was wondering if I was doing the right thing but, I am so glad I did it.

My little Asura will be back but, I am expecting that this race will be gracing my PC screen as a Thief.

I agree with the OP, though.

My modest suggestions

BIMBLE.7952

I adore this game and I have rustled up just a brief list of some additions which would be nice, in my opinion:

1: I would love to be able to switch to an alternative weapon load-out – just like the Warrior class – when playing my Elementalist. It’s not a game breaker in any way but, it would be nice to be able to switch from my staff to my dagger load-out, on the fly.

2: I would like to be able to craft/purchase/ and use lanterns which could be either fastened to our gear and varying locations (freeing up our hands for more important matters) or, use such a lantern in our off-hand. Moving through the dark in a halo of light – or, seeing passing adventurers on your travels, wrapped in golden coronas – would be helpful and would just look great in my opinion.

3: No doubt been touched upon before (I would hazard a guess) but, player/guild housing would be a treat. I would be nice if such housing was in a large variety of locations across the map and it would allow you to then choose where you wish to live, depending upon your personal requirements and the local area.

4: I would like to be able to use my mini’s at any point anywhere, without the need to check in on a bank.

5: I would also love to be able to set up a camp where you can craft, rest and generally chill out. Passing players may drop in and it would bolster that special community feel which is already growing in the game.

That’s pretty much it. Thanks all.
