Most of us know that Scarlet and the LS content has already been produced, in production or will be soon. Anet will continue the story per their road map. I just hope that either they will wrap it all up quicker since a lot of people don’t care for it or stop planning for her to be the central theme as soon as it’s possible. It was o.k for a few content updates and I think Anet could make her still work perhaps in a supporting role of sorts but for Guild Wars she is terrible at best as a main story character.
No, LS by no means equals an expansion. In an expansion the content is permanent and you have time to do it at your pace. Southsun is the only permanent new area so far. I do enjoy the LS most times but I wish they would do a yearly expansion along with it. LS is basically end game content meant to keep people logging in. I do think Anet will release an expansion at some point but with the 2 week content cycle I fear it might be a ways off still.
I agree with some of the points with this thread. New content updates every two weeks is a bit much. They do often feel rushed and the stories and game play feel sub par. If they released new content say every 30 days instead I believe it would be better for everyone. We would have more time to enjoy the content, ANet could make a more in depth and better story line and have more time for polish and bug elimination. Like others have stated, pushing this much this fast is creating bugs and it feels like Anet isn’t taking pride in their work like they did back in GW1.
In GW1, holiday events we’re very enjoyable and I didn’t see to many complaints regarding them. This past Halloween rehash in GW2 was just pathetic at best. They really should take more time with the holiday events and others like the Canthan New Year. I feel the upcoming wintersday patch will be the same kind of thing as this past Halloween with a few new items.
ANet, slow it down and take a breather! Quanity over quality in this particular game IS NOT better by any stretch. Re-evaluate your current model and spend more time releasing great content instead of rushing these messes you’ve been releasing. I understand that a small player base gobbles up content and you might be afraid that they might not log on as much between updates. I also understand that you might be afraid you will lose out on gem store revenue from these same people. It is of my opinion that the rest of your players might actually make more gem store purchases if they we’re happier with the game and enjoyed better content. A lot of us understand that the main motivator for this 2 week schedule is to keep people in the game in hopes of driving up gem store revenue but this is really cheapening the over all experience.
Look all. The letter coincides with the MMO migration they are pushing at the moment. It’s a heads up stating they expect an influx of new players and recruiting might be good for a while. They are not forcing people to join guilds. If people don’t like group events, then there is tons of stuff that they can do solo.
If the cap of 25 was player based it would be fine but with that being the total cap between all players it is nothing short of a joke. Perhaps have an individual player cap for condition on bosses but scale it down a bit for each player applying the same condition. Something like if five players apply bleed then reduce the damage by like 5 or 10 for each player so it’s not to OP but still has respectable enough damage to keep condition builds viable. There is a way to make something like this work.
On SoR, our guild runs the queen event every night shortly after reset. We frequently have 50+ guildies there plus a lot more players out of guild that are told we are about to run it. We get many thanks in map chat for helping them to run the event because other wise they would not be able to. Our pleasure.
