Here are pictures of my guard.

Just to toss my experience in here. I’ve spent roughly 3.5k gold and tossed in nearly 10,000 rares into the forge. 3 precursors. 2 Storms, 1 Bard(all from random rares). My latest streak is about 4000 rares without a single precursor(3000 greatswords, 1000 random cheap rares). Additionally, I have also tossed in about 250 exotics+88 mystic forge stones and also no precursor. At this point I am sitting at 70g after dropping almost 800g in the forge trying to get a dusk or dawn.

They may be used to craft lodestones/cores. I remember a dev posting that they were planning on adding more ways to obtain them and this could be one. Also they did say that you get your own personal quartz node once you complete the meta achievement which leads me to believe that they will make them very rare, which also makes me think that they will be used to craft cores or lodestones.

Of course I dropped 240 ectos to make 77 mystic clovers before I decided to go for t6…
