I prefer the 2nd one.
As for a system that’s better, I would choose the gw1 pvp system (it actually worked) and just increase the max number of players on a team to 20 and make it a three way battle.
Even wow is getting a 15v15 arena battle

Having more worlds with half the population is great as it would reduce blob sizes and make matchups more interesting and refreshing
