Nah don’t turn off auto updates, just hide the .NET update.
That bandit cave has bad fps for everyone. Devs need to optimize it.
Removing .NET worked for me, back to normal. I knew it was .NET hosing it too because as soon as I would install a program using .NET GW2 would have dramatic FPS drops.

VisceralMonkey, I would not uninstall .NET if I were you, I merely uninstalled the security patches that Microsoft sent and turned off automatic updates. But yes you can change the setting to Windows Updates to only install what you allow.
Yea I started seeing these items last night, chinese characters in item descriptions.
No issues for me, downloading at 2 megabytes a second.
After having issues and reformatting I kept checking Guild Wars 2 frame rates after every Windows 7 Automatic update and it dropped after a large batch of NET 4 security updates. I rolled back from that and turned off automatic updates in Windows 7 and it fixed it. There is some issue in the dot NET 4 updates that hoses Guild Wars 2 frame rates for certain people. I hate having to turn off Windows Automatic Updates but it is the only fix I have found for myself so far.
This is 100% to do with a Windows Update. I have done a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 Ultimate and after every batch of important updates from Microsoft I check Guild Wars 2 FPS. I haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly which update kills the FPS but it is within a large batch of required updates from Microsoft in which the FPS dies, when you restore from that it is once again back to normal so it is definitely a Microsoft patch that is killing Guild Wars 2. Hopefully ANet can get a QA on this and go step by step through every Microsoft patch and pinpoint the problem.
Ha well there goes that! My fps lasted for about 4 hours then today it is back to 10 fps again after that complete reformat, crazy thing is now it is only affecting my Charr character, all the other characters are running at 50 fps but my Charr is constantly at 10 FPS no matter what area of the game I go to, weird huh?
Well I reformatted Windows 7 and reinstalled Guild Wars 2 and it actually fixed my problem. I don’t know if it will stay stable but we shall see.
It appears to me as though FXAA is stuck on even though you change it in the menu there is no discernible difference in game. I think the game always has AA on now which is obviously a huge hit in performance for older GPUs.
Same problem Radeon 7750, went from 50 to 10 fps after the patch using same settings as before. It wasn’t the Windows Update either because I tried rolling it back with no difference. To me it appears as though FXAA is stuck on even though you can change it in the menu it appears to always be on which is obviously a huge performance drop for older cards.
Same problem, Radeon 7750. Dramatic drop in performance since this morning’s patch. Went from 50 to 10 fps, same settings as before.
Hello after the patch this morning I received a dramatic drop in FPS. I was running on Best settings minus FXAA at 50fps, since this morning’s patch I now get 10fps. I have noticed that FXAA appears to be on no matter what I do because there are no jaggies, having to run in FXAA on my old 7750 makes the game unplayable. Please fix the FXAA setting so that it does what it is set to in the options. Thanks for your great game.
You could do some PvP.
