The balance patches come early in the breaks between seasons, ostensibly so there is time to practice the adjustments in hotjoin & unranked, usually about 4 weeks.
Season 1 was from Dec 1 – Jan 25. The balance patch was the day after, Jan 26.
Season 2 was from Feb 23 – Apr 18. The balance patch was the day after, Apr 19.
Season 3 started May 17 and ends today, Jul 11. If the pattern holds, then Jul 12 would rebalance. However, there hasn’t been a balance patch preview yet, so it’s possible the patch and thus season 4 will be pushed out a bit?
What am I missing? Is the only thing I can do with them trash them?
Another thing to keep in mind that may not be obvious — you can salvage anything you either don’t want to keep, or already has a copy stored in your PvP locker. Use special PvP salvage kits bought with glory from Glory Vendors in Heart of the Mists. The regular salvage kits won’t work on PvP items.
This will break them down into component PvP crafting materials that also can be stored up to 250 a stack in your locker as well.
I trashed many items before I realized this :/
The problem is related to purchasing gems in-game on Mac Beta, but I think it may be possible to buy and load gems into your account using physical gem cards ordered from third-party vendors, depending on your location, and feasibility of shipping.
But I’m not sure — can anyone confirm this by actually having done it?
Actually, I’m unclear why Anet doesn’t just sell gem card codes.
Anet already has a web-enabled shop that sells a variety of items, like mice, headphones, the soundtrack, stuffed animals, etc. They even sell the digital edition of their own game. Why not sell gems directly through their own shop, for digital instant delivery, rather than going to a third-party vendor and waiting for gem cards to ship? After all, web shopping is platform- and browser-independent for the most part.
I also have a problem with completing a gem purchase. After entering all information and confirming the purchase, I receive this error:
Error! {"error": “parse”, “type”: “orderModel:error” }
I’ve checked that all information is correct; tried the “change quantity” trick; and made sure the correct credit card type was selected (this is extremely subtle, btw).
I tried this twice on Jun 14 at around 8:15pm EDT, and just now, Jun 15 at 4:15pm EDT. I’m using the Mac Beta client.
This forum topic may help.
As long as the hard drive is formatted for both PC and Mac, you might be able to use the techniques in the linked thread to use your PC to unpack the client so that it would run off your hard drive when plugged into a Mac.
While you can certainly download the dmg file for the Mac beta client, after that, you can’t really do anything with it using Windows (much like you can download an exe file format to the Mac, but not open or install it).
So you would need to borrow a Mac to be able to install the application to an external hard drive.
Also keep in mind that to increase the chances of having a decent experience running the game, you may want to make sure the hard drive has a decent pipeline to the computer (probably minimum FireWire 800 or USB 3.0), and has its own power source. (Just considerations — I don’t have experience running the game from an external, but I know lesser connections and USB-powered drives are more limited when working off externals drives.)
