Also, is it just me or is the new animation much longer than the normal sickle animation? If so, it should be shortened.

This. When I first time used this sickle, I was like “omg, why so long”. I hope that it is bug, because if it is gonna be like this, I won’t use it.
And yeah, the way character holds it, just… You would ruin every berry “picked” that way in real. I know that you can compare game with real life, but just let’s try make this sickle a little bit realistic.

What feature do you miss from your old MMO

The one thing I miss more than anything belonged to Silkroad Online. The “trinity” job system. You had traders, hunters, and thieves.

Traders would travel from town to town carrying “goods” in order to sell them. The goods would rate from 1 to 5 stars and if you carried more than 2 stars player thieves could attack you. NPC thieves would periodically spawn to harass and try to kill the transport holding your goods. Depending on how far you took the goods your price would increase. Town 1 goods sold decently in town 2, but if you made it to town 3 they were worth SO much more. Adding in the “trading economy” where if a town was oversaturated with a certain good you wouldn’t be given as much this was extremely fun.

Hunters were the body guards of the game, hired to drive away both NPC thieves and player thieves. Not much to this but still insanely fun.

Thieves however, my favorite… you would don the pure black thief outfit that screamed death at the enemies. Roaming the countryside looking for hunters to kill was a blast. If you found a 2 star or above trader you didn’t even think about it. You looked at them, they looked at you, battle commenced. You would NOT let them go. After you killed them and their caravan you would summon your own transport and steal their goods. When you were all loaded up you would pop a “thieves portal” scroll. It gave you a 5 minute countdown. After that 5 minutes you would be teleported to the den of thieves to sell your goods. During that 5 minutes however, oh god…it was a free for all. You knew the trader was coming back to get his stuff. You knew he was going to hire a hunter to find you.

Objective 1: Hide
Objective 2: Prepare for battle
Objective 3: Learn when to cut your losses

It was an open world pvp system that wasn’t required to be done! This meant people who had no interest weren’t effected, yet it held dynamic game value. Who could resist the taste of easy money? God some of the fights would be so epic when you got full on job wars outside of towns. Or when a guild of traders would caravan together forcing thieves to group up and ambush them.

I really miss this and I would kill for anet to place this in the game. It was SO MUCH FUN.

I “hate you now” because I wanna play that game again…
That game was absolutely grind feast, you had to grind to max level (I got to lvl72 and couldn’t stand it anymore) for year or more even if you were hardcore nolifer. But that job system was amazing. I think I didn’t see anything like that in any other MMO. Offcourse, there wasn’t balance, because lvl80 thieves could attack my lvl30 hunter or trader, but I really miss that system. And those serverwide caravans(10+ traders, 30+ hunters and 50+ sneaky thieves) were so epic.
But I think, it will never could be in this game, because it would ruin economy(as I remember good weapon(not even bis) cost about 70 billions gold).

Leveling is a chore.

And I hate Orr. It seems that undeads are smartest creatures in this game. Why brainless zombie is going after me but not my pet? Why zombie is smarter than human pirate, fire legion char or ogre? I go there only because of story quests and 100% completion. Yeah, DE’s are fine there, but I just can’t stand those “smart” zombies and their respawn timers. And I love hearts, it’s another reason why I hate Orr. Maybe I’m old school player, but zone without quests don’t have meaning for me. It’s boring runnig around without purpose and hope that you run in some DE accidently.

But I have a choice to go or not in those zones, so yeah, if you don’t like low level zones it sucks for you. But I don’t like WvW and still there are some poi and vistas which I need. So you have just accept it and patiently go through it (in OP case level to 80 and in my case go to WvW and do 100% map).

Anyone who points to WoW as the bastion of profession balance, probably didn’t play enough of it early on to comment.

I didn’t want to say that WoW was or is perfect in balancing. I haven’t played vanilla WoW where enh shammy with 2-handed “oneshoted” people and after that they were nerfed forever, but I have played my enh shammy in most of raids (sometimes I were going with my alt just for fun). And rogues, warriors, dks were doing more dps but I have never be afraid to go in raid or dungeon with my shammy(I could outdps some lazy people with “OP” classes) because there wasn’t big difference between 10, 15 or even 30 min length run like in this game. It seems that these groups are willing spend 10mins for shounting LF 3 warriors, guardian and mesmer than start a run immediately with “exotic” class like a ranger, necro or engie.
But like you said, join a guild could be a solution.
P.S. I like PUG, but in this game I can’t pug without warrior, guardian or mesmer mostly.

I have played WoW from BC last months to Cata Nefarion and I don’t remember that there was anything like here (e.g. LF 3 tanks, 5 healers(one shammy for Bloodlust) and 20 warriors). Actually there was opposite, diversity in class was very appreciated because every class could bring something special. And there is only DPS matter in GW2 dungeons and warrior’s DPS is OP. So yeah, you can play another class, but you are forced to make warrior alt for farming. I have loved WoW HC dungeons (especially cata’s) and raiding, but here I’m just working for 100% map completion(and it’s going be long because of those kitten WvW[lagging zergfests] pois, vistas, challenges) and I’m waiting for next good game.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love GW2 very much and It’s worth 50euros.
I just enjoy playing my ranger and I don’t care about gold or legendaries.

Definition of Ranger

Well, one thing people should understand is that rangers are not “the” archers. For that there should be a profession called “Marksman” or simply “Archer”. Rangers are basically “Warriors of the wilds” I would consider them as the counterpart of the paladins which are the “Warriors of the order” or holy warriors. Now if you consider the classic AD&D rules, rangers should indeed be as tough or close to what we call "fighter class " and when paladins come with powerful offensive and defensive abilities, rangers should come with more tactical abilities like a fearsome pet, poisons, stealth, traps and long range weaponry to initiate combat and when things get up close and personal, they use their dual wielding swords or greatsword or any of the “martial” weapon kits. Now, we know that in an mmorpg especially a dynamic one such as GW2, tactics and preparations are hard to implement. So what I suggest is that rangers get buffed furthermore to match the toughness of warriors and guardians in certain areas (considering pets too), because hey, GW2 was supposed to give you the opportunity to build your class they way you see fit and for that you need some backbone to rely on.

I’m so sick of this definition. I’ dont want another melee class with “fancy” name ranger. We have thiefs, warriors, guardians and absurdly clother GS melee (mesmer). We need archer, real one (e.g. Demon Hunter from Diablo). I don’t need useless pets and kittenty dps (because I would be “OP” with good dps and pets). Remove pets and improve ranger’s (archer’s) DPS. Or make last trait in BM trait line that you can tame and use pets, but have to sacrifice massive DPS from other trait lines. Basically, that you can’t have decent ranger’s dps and pets at same time.
But if you all so inlove with these “amazing” pets, give them 75% resistance to aoe dmg, 50% resistance to direct BOSS dmg. Is it hard to code that pets would have diferrent stats in dungeons and open world.
PVP… hmmm… I can’t say anything about this, never been in wvw or pvp. And actually, I hate pvp. All profession balancing problems is because of pvp. If ranger would do decent dps in dungeon, he would be OP in pvp because of range abilities and etc. I was allways curious how hard would be have dual spells like press 1 and shoot pve mob for X dmg (e.g. 1000 dmg) or another player for Y dmg (e.g. 200 dmg).

Please, make ranger more like archer but not like another melee with less survivability, dps and utilities than warrior.
