Do you have HoT? If so, Chronomancer can go very support-heavy in PvE. With some boon duration gear you can supply your party with Quickness. Though not strictly meta, you could even build for Healing Power in addition to the boon duration. Mesmer doesn’t have a ton of skills which heal, but the nice thing is that the ones that do can be used as an integral part of the Quickness rotation. Healing Prism, WoE, Sigil of Water, and Illusionary Inspiration all help you sustain the party. It’s fun to take on a dedicated support role.
How much boon duration do you need to accomplish perma-Quickness with WoA/ToT/SoI rotation? I know that the old rotation pre-nerf needed at least 96%. Is it still the same or lower/higher? Thanks!
When using Healing Prism in the Inspiration line, what triggers the heal? Is it only activated by using the primary heal skill (e.g. Mantra of Healing) or will it proc off of other sources like Sigil Of Water and Regeneration?
I used to use Centaurs runes plus heal mantra, so the 25% is certainly welcome. That said, now that I’ve specced into boon duration for quickness sharing with SoI, I can get perma-Swiftness from SoI and Temporal Curtain. Makes running around nice and easy.

I’m a fairly casual player (i.e. haven’t done much in the way of organized Fractals/Raids) and I love the difficulty level in HoT open-world/meta. It has some excitement to it. As to the subject of grind- I don’t mind it much. It gives me a goal that I can progress. Ascended took me a while, but the feeling of accomplishment when i finished was fantastic.
Master of Fragmentation is improving only shatter’s skills effects. Notice that mesmer’s f4 skill is also called the distortion. This is how its meant to be. With this trait mesmer’s f2 ability applies cripple+confusion, but you dont get any cripple if u apply confusion with scepter or any other source. Same with distortion. Its f4 ability that grants reflect, not the distortion(effect).
This is untrue. Read the wiki entry for Master of Fragmentation or try equipping a signet with Master of Fragmentation and Blurred Inscriptions. The functionality is not standardized across all of the skills.
Master of Fragmentation is supposed to alter the effects of Distortion so that it also reflects. It currently works for both the Distortion shatter and signets with Blurred Inscriptions. However, it is not granting reflection when I use the Well of Precognition (which now grants Distortion). It does not show up on the skill tip, nor does it apply in testing vs projectile attacks. This seems to be a bug. Please advise if there is a known explanation for this.
Alright, a deficit created by the game transferring over Traits to the new system. That makes sense to me. Thanks for the link.
When I logged in on my Charr Engineer for the first time following the Specialization rework, I was lvl 29. I reached lvl 30 through combat and doing two Hero Challenges. I reached 31 through using Exp Scrolls in my bank. I did not receive any Hero Points upon leveling up to 31- I only have the two that I got from the Hero Challenges. The wiki states that characters are supposed to recieve 8 Hero points after hitting 31. Am I doing something wrong/misunderstanding? Or is this a bug? Because if so, that’s a very serious bug.
I dropped dead on one of the Vine Bridges in Dry Top earlier. Not sure of that was this glitch, or maybe a result of the extra lag that seems specific to Dry Top at the moment.
And with Fire Specialization equipped, still out of Fire Attunement. Note Power increase from 1,873 to 2,023.
Just for completeness’s sake, took screens of Empowering Flame extra power glitch. This is with no Fire Specialization, and out of Fire Attunement.
While working on events in Dry Top, I was encountering unplayable skill lag. Skills would activate a good 2-3 seconds after being pressed. Numerous other players on the map reported that they were also encountering lag. Restarting then game reduced the lag, but only temporarily. Players on the map stated that the lag spikes had not been occurring before the recent patches. I have not encountered the severe lag outside of Dry Top.
If I remember correctly, what’s happening is the Harmonious Mantra user is crossing into a differently leveled zone- the level change causes the extra charge to be lost. This bug has been around for months, no signs that they will fix it.
I have been using Shift+1 -> Shift+4 for for 7-9 Utility slots and Elite. While my character is moving, I cannot activate Shift+2. I have tried different skills in the slot ( Blink, Signet of Midnight), all have the same issue. While I am moving, I am able to use Shift+(appropriate number) to activate my other Utilities. However, Shift+2 only activates while my character is stationary.
The March 16th patch notes claimed that this was addressed. However, as can be seen in this screenshot from the 16th, this is not the case. With ~6 players, we got around 3 champions and innumerable vets/elites. The catapults don’t do enough damage to kill even vets in less than 4 direct hits or so. I put several shots into the stampede to result in no kills. I like difficult defense events, but this is silly.
Logged out to character select while standing on Vista north of Kessex Haven WP in Kessex Hills region. When I logged back in to that character, seemed to have fallen through the platform and was stuck. Couldn’t get out by moving/jumping. Had to escape by using WP port.
