Whatever you choose, I’d save the gold and stick to either karma or rare level gear. There are supposedly going to be trait/balance changes in the patch later this month so I’d wait for that before sinking any serious gold into it.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll take a look at overclock.net.
I’m looking to upgrade some of my hardware, including my video card. I’d like to get some feedback from 780 owners. How does GW2 run on the 780? Any issues?
Thanks,
Are any of you running NVidia cards? I have two systems, one with an NVidia card and Creative sound card and the other is an ATI with onboard sound. The NVidia one constantly has problems…sound glitches, blank TP, while the ATI has absolutely no problems.
Four 80’s (Warrior, Guardian, Necro, Ranger), will be making a fifth next weekend (probably a Thief) after I gather all the mats I need. No main, all played pretty much equally. Honestly, I see no reason to have a “main” in this game since you can level from scratch, and gear up, in a matter of a couple days.

This also lessens the impact of nerfs. The only real negative is in wvw where you end up spreading out the level points
Holy necro batman, this was back b4 i even entred WvW lol..how things have changed :P
Anyhoo, i wouldnt worry till u hit the 90c mark. Granted 80-90c is rather warm but its still within safety. As above, check those things 1st. Software will never cause this type of issue, it will only show up a already present hardware issue (gone of TIM, faulty cooler, poor airflow, faulty GPU etc).
Eh…better to necro the thread than start a new one for the same issue. At any rate I’ll double check everything. Thought there may have been a driver issue since the problem was sudden and I was getting blue screen of death, but only on GW2. Thanks for the replies.
Sorry to necro the thread but I’m having the same problems as the OP. Did anyone else with these issues find a solution?
Or just make yourself nerf proof by getting all classes to 80 and equipping them with at least 2 sets of equipment. Then you can play whatever you fancy. And if A-Net nerfs something into oblivion (like rangers for pve) you can switch to something more enjoyable. (because right now ranger is really in a sad state.)
+1 Best advice out there. Also if more people had all classes to 80 maybe there’d be a little less “I’M SO HAPPY YOUR CLASS IS GETTING NERFED!” on these forums. I’d also be careful how I spent my laurels since they are the one currency that is at a premium.
I’d wait til the patch on the 30th before spending any karma/gold on gear.
Can’t we all just shut up and adapt?
And if adapting requires lots more g for the re-equip?

See this is one of the several problems with nerfing as a general tool for balancing. My response…level all of my professions to level 80 so I can switch around mains when ANet throws out the nerf grenade.
And it’s not the upcoming patch..it’s the idea of taking a strong build (who wants to play a weak one?) and then nerfing it back to the middle (or in some cases worse) of the pack. It doesn’t make me want to play more, it doesn’t inspire build diversity. Most importantly (from a business side) I don’t want to spend real world $$ to purchase gems/gold. Why spend time/money on something that could be ruined by a misguided nerf?
Ranger-It’s just a “meh” class and doesn’t contribute enough at 80 in either WvW or PVE (FOTM/Dungeons). Damage is below average, the trait lines don’t make a lot of sense, and pets don’t contribute enough. They should have split the class into a Scout type class (Range/Melee) and a true Beastmaster class.
