What stopped the game from crashing for me was setting graphics to the lowest possible option. You can select “best performance” and then turn the shadows off. (otherwise they are on low)
After that I’ve been increasing the graphics a bit. Render to native, terrain to medium, works fine. (for me) Just played for nearly 3 and a half hour without problems.
Set texture to medium: crash on the 1st map travel.
Just set under graphics option- resolution – windowed fullscreen mode, and set any desireable graphic options, no crashes 100% guaranteed!!!!
It crashes for me, so that is not the solution.
I have the same problems, using Vista 32bit and a GTX460 (Core2 Quad CPU, 3GB ram) wity the latest WHQL drivers (301.42).
Upgraded to the 304.79 beta drivers didn’t change anything.
Yesterday I did a clean install of Vista on an empty HD. Latest mobo/lan/audio drivers, NVidia driver 304.79, then SP1 and SP2 for vista, and Firefox and GW2.
No specific drivers for mouse or keyboard, no antivirus.
First crash was after some 5 minutes of playing. :-( After that it was back to normal, about 30 minutes of normal playing, then crashing when using map-travel or a portal.
(hard-drive erased because it didnt fix the problem, unfortunately I did not save the error report of it)
What I did notice, with both the old and new install, is that the colors turn more yellow and light-blue before crashing, most notable in the background when you open your bank. Tried to take a screenshot, but that makes GW2 crash.
After the crash, pc takes a while to recover. Desktop background is black, firefox and thunderbird take ages to start up, I even have to wait when I want to look at the content of the hd’s. (the arenanet.log file says “out of memory”) The same happened with the clean install of Vista.
During the BWE and the stress-test, I did not have those problems.
