I can’t take a screen shot with the chat open.

You can. Click out of chat so you are no longer typing in chat, any place on the screen so you are no longer typing in chat. Then use the key you have designated for screen shots. By default your screen shot key is print screen.

The icon only shows up when I am typing.

And how do I get rid of it? It shows up whenever I type in chat or when creating a character name.

For those of you using d/f what is your build?

I would look up some guides or watch some videos to help you out.

I love me ele and the challenge she brings. I normally use d/d but I also like to use staff. I am currently wearing knights gear with berserker jewels. I have 30 points in arcane and water and the other 10 in air.

Just make sure you are always switching attunements. If you have some points into arcane every time you switch to water you get regen and every time you switch to earth you get protection. It actually helps out a lot.

Here is my ele, still trying to figure out a good color combination for the armor.

Have you been updating your gear and traits? If you have been updating them maybe try getting gear with toughness and vitality stats and maybe set up your traits for a little more survivability.
