ncsoft can be very thick headed and are not the best judges of character, having made many bad and unpopular decisions on other games in the past. Knowing them they will continue to resist what the people want but i hope they do allow to add Cantha one day.

Thanks for response, my ticket number is 16439.

I actually got a quick reply from ncsoft, who suggest using the program heaven to do some benchmarking and provided me with a link, and also one called game advisor which can do some tests before upgrading the program and for me to then update the ticket. Admittedly I haven’t managed to get round to it yet but will definitely have it done by tomorrow evening.

Thanks again.

Serious performance drop after upgrade

Prior to upgrading the game was running ok. Typically at 22 to 50+ frames per second. This was with an ATI 6850, 4 gigddr2 ram and a core2quad 2.8ghz.

Other than my graphics card and ram I have made no other changes to my computer.

I replaced my ATI 6850 with an ATI 6870 re-installing the driver (they happen to use the same one but i downloaded it again anyway) in the correct manner. After playing some games and noticing some improvement i thought great time to upgrade the RAM.

So I replaced my two sticks of ddr2 2 gig ram for two sticks of ddr2 4 gig ram. Giving me a total of 8 gig of ram which windows does detect. My loading times are noticably a bit quicker, and windows7 (64bit) and programs like CPUID do detect the new hardware correctly.

All of my other games such as The Secret World, Rome Total War 2 and Old Republic and StarCraft 2 are running better than before. But for GW2, the performance has worsened. Drastically. It’s really bad.

On the mainly medium settings which i had in place from before the frames dropped to average 8 frames a second, when i used to get 22-50+.

On low graphics/best performance settings it went to 13 frames a second.

What has happened? How could this be possible? I’ve raised a ticket but i understand it can take a long time to get a response, if you get on at all. At least thats what other players said in game. Is that true?

I hope not, and hope someone here can help me, I have always loved and been a supporter of GW2, and have spoken well of it to my friends, of how cool it is. And now this happens

So if someone knows whats going on and how i can fix this i would seriously be grateful. For the record the aforementioned ticket had to be done through ncsoft rather than direct through GW2 ‘due to security concerns’ the email told me, so I set up an account direct with ncsoft too so I could at least have an open ticket underway.
