Give 2more guards on each dolyak and make the dolyak invincible to any damage until all guards are taken out.

I love this idea. The dolyaks are way to easy to pick off, guards or not. Give some incentive to upgrade the camps.

I’ve invested $500+ into GW2 along with an unhealthy 2,500+ hours (most of it in WvW).

A few questions/suggestions hopefully you can chime in on.

1. Any news/updates on making winning the match up more rewarding? There is very little fanfare or even acknowledgement that your server won. The passives are ok I guess, but at the end of the day it just feels hollow.

2. WvW Abilities – All in all I have to admit, they are just boring. Passives blah, some of the siege abilities are ok. I know you have to be careful with balance… but I would really like to see more creativity here.

3. Any chance of getting WvW Rank locked unique skins? Maybe an Aura around you? Something/anything unique to WvW to show off??? ( Same for SPVP, but thats a different topic)

4. Guild Claiming really needs to mean more. Defending in general needs to mean more.

5. I honestly think with the modest size of your maps and how many people are crammed into them. The waypoints upgrades should be removed.

6. Commander System – That is all the needs to be said.

7. How about DAOC style killspam? Just throwing that out there. I know a lot of people that loved it. At the end of the day we all want to be the hero!

Ok this is turning into a wall of text so I’ll stop here.

1) There should be some movement on this in the very near future. And that version will not be the final version either, but we wanted to make some changes quickly.

2) We will continue to work on these abilities in the hopes of making them more fun and providing more variety. We are however quite set on not adding power creep, at least not much, which makes them fairly constrained. We have yet to unleash our craziest ideas.

3)That is not something I had thought of, but I think it’s a good idea and I’ll at least start the ball rolling. Skins take forever and a day to be made though, so it won’t be for months if we do it at all.

4) We will update guild claiming in the future, but there are other tasks we are focused on at the moment. It’s also something that we want to do a very serious overhaul to, so it isn’t something that can happen in bits an pieces.

5) I agree and we will likely remove them at some point in the future. However, to do so requires additional work because of the complexities of the upgrade system. It’s not as simple to do as it should be. But we have to work with the tools we have.

6) We are in the process of figuring out just what we’ll need to do to the commander system to make it what it should be. Much like guild claiming it is not a small overhaul though and it won’t be in place for quite some time.

7) It is on our list of things to do, but it is not going to happen until we’ve handled some other, more serious things. Like the commander system. While I certainly wish I had a legion of designers and programmers at my disposal, we have a finite amount of resources to be put to work and we have to prioritize them according to what is necessary for the game. Sometimes that means doing things that have seemingly little impact to y’all, but eventually pay dividends in other ways.

Something I feel like a lot of people forget… We don’t PAY anything for GW2… Unless you want to. How much content has been put out there at no extra cost to any player that gets to enjoy it? All of it.

As someone who plays a d/p thief you are way wrong on this. First off you don’t need the 3 extra ini at all. Secondly with Infiltrators Signet and Quick Recovery I can stealth indefinitely if I want. If I am in combat and not Heartseekering my BP field more then once, as long as I manage my ini a bit carefully I can easily stealth every single time Revealed drops off me.

Also if I want to break combat and get away using Shadow Refuge you will rarely have a chance to counter it as I will use Withdraw to gain some distance (while evading) maybe a dodge roll or two then a Shadow Step, THEN drop my Refuge.

Not only that but because using Black Powder with you targeted will blind you even if you aren’t near my field, it’s quite hard for you to counter.

It really is an easy mode, boring spec which is why I’m not going to play it anymore. Especially melee can do very little to counter it.

Then I stand corrected on the use of the blinding powder field . =p Then the only response I know to that is make the powder shot last only as long as reveal.

Well there are always two sides to a coin. I see the benefits and reasons for both. If you are running with a guild and they need an ele when you play a thief, you have no incentive to play the role other and you get screwed on your thief if you do. But… If you play the thief and then play the ele, you shouldn’t get the benefits after not playing it.

So what about something even odder… How about you get to choose which character your Wxp goes to? Then you can play the ele to help the guild but not get screwed on your main.

Back to the original post, I must totally agree. There is a post in this forum about getting rid of Devon cause nothing has happened for 11 months and he responded he’s only been here for 5. Devon is one person, just like everyone else. And I am sure, from a job standpoint, he has had to get up to speed and then has to talk to his boss who has to talk to his boss… etc. Point is, stop hating the Dev team. Frustrating? Yes. But how about we all play nice together and share the blocks.

What I see is ANet is stuck between getting content out as quick as possible for the people as requested, but then people complain when its not polished. Pick your poison. They are doing the best they can.

I once read a post from a warrior that I agree with. If you waste your skills against a thief at the wrong times, the thief will utterly punish you for it. If you wait and time it properly, the thief is dead. This is probably true for most classes really.

I think the easiest solution to this problem is to make it so all combo fields disappear after the first finisher use. There. In order to spam stealth then, they would have to lay down another BP and that would be incredibly initiative intensive. It would also, obviously, impact things like fire fields and the like so I know it will be met with resistance but people will get used to it and there won’t be the same level of stealth spamming. It also wouldn’t destroy the D/P weaponset for anyone who does anything other than stealth spam.

Why not just do blinding power if this is truly the issue? It has a 4s duration and Reveal is 3s. Or, stay away from the field and the thief cant use it twice…

As to the 12 initiative thing, that just helps my argument. So I don’t understand the whole OP thing.

Sure, so let’s limit it to level 80’s only. Would that not fix that issue? Then you have to at least work at a class and know the class in PVE before you get the bonuses.

What if I got level 80 by crafting? Being lvl 80 doesn’t mean you know your class, build or what that class is good/bad at in WvW.

To me, character bound is a good idea. My warrior has sacrificed his life many times over to uphold the pride of my guild, why should my thief be rewarded for his bravery in the line of battle?

LOL! Yeah you got a little crazy there! no I totally agree with this, and that is the hard line to balance. But there IS something to be said about your WvW experience as a player that you should be rewarded for, not just your warrior. Yes?

First, I have run up against this and got my butt kicked. So I know what you mean. Second, it is NOT broke. Now please follow: Max initiative for a thief is 15. Black powder takes 6, heartseeker takes 3. that’s 9. Now subtract 2 for the initiative gain from stealthing, for 7. So the thief can do this twice, let’s say three for the sake of arguing and initiative regen. For a skirmish, ya that hurts a lot, but it is not unbeatable. (and oh btw, C&D is cheaper for the same effect, and blinds with the right traits). Different classes will have different counters, or be totally weak to this.

But what I read originally for a group of 5 to go down to this? Then you really need to stop and learn the thief. Pick one of you off? Sure. Down the group? No. Shadow Refuge is very nice, and it gives regen. BUT… what do you get when you aoe the area? What do you get if you knock the thief out of the ring? Often a dead thief that’s what.

Rather than scream OP OMG OP! try thinking, what can I do to counter that and you will most often find ANet has given you the tools you need already! And as you find these tools, you will find these tools don’t work so well against other classes / builds…

Bump! Same reason I don’t play other characters in WvW. I would love to have a solo and a zerg group character to play, and not have to split my Wxp!

As to the using gems to buy Wxp, I just wanna… No.

As for profession skills, I play one character in WvW, but have 5 level 80 toons. I have to say, I have learned a LOT through observation of others, both for my WvW character and the others. The mechanics of group play are not really profession specific, imho, and can be learned without having to know everything about the profession before you start WvW with them.

Ya, I am having fun right now in fact. But it is about 5 vs 5. not 60 vs 10. Prime time, that all changes. Whatever the answer, I feel something needs to be done, even if narrowing the filter. just SOMETHING. you know?

I know there are a lot of posts about what’s wrong with the matchup system, but maybe some suggestions? We all know that right now the system is “broke”. We say broke because one server should not ever have 2x the score of both other servers, or one server has no points at all. This defeats the WHOLE purpose of WvWvW. The higher servers do not get competition and the lower servers get rolled. It is not fun for anyone in my opinion.

Now, why not limit the matchups to sets of 6 servers? This could be at least a “intermediate” fix until something is figured out. This keeps everyone in competition without being totally rolled over. The current system has been in place long enough that you should have data to do at least a temporary change to the system. Whatever the answer, ANet PLEASE do SOMETHING! I love WvWvW but it is just no fun the way the matchups are going!

Swiftness Duration Stack Bug?

So I just tested this again to make sure I was not crazy. I used my Save Yourselves and then used my Retreat. They stack just fine. Then I used my staff #3, standing still to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and the buff just kept refreshing up to the duration it already was (instead of 20, then 28, it was 20, 19, 20, 19, 20, 19, 20). So maybe it is just certain skills or area effects.

I have had multiple instances across several classes where swiftness does not seem to stack. i.e. I was on my thiefwith the steal trait that gives fury, might, and swiftness. When I used this in a large group, I got my buff, but no one else’s swiftness (they were static bombing the group). Other times I saw my swiftness go away and then reappear as a new swiftness buff after mine ended, when no one apparently buffed me.

I just ran across an instance on my Guardian where I used “Save Yourselves” and then used the staff #3, and running through the circle gave me no extension on the buff.

Am I missing something or has anyone else run into this issue?

Problem – haste does not stack.

I have 3 haste traits on my Mesmer, and none of them work in conjunction with the other, but all of them work alone.

Phantasmal Haste – Phantasms recharge 20% faster.
Illusionists Celerity – Illusion-summoning skills recharge 20% faster.
and for the weapon skill test I used:
Warden’s Feedback – Focus skills reflect projectiles. Reduces recharge of Focus skills by 20%.

Any one of these traits alone reduces the Phantasm skill #5 of the focus by 20%. In theory, I should get 60% with all 3, or some percentage more, but there is no change with additional skills. This in effect makes at least Phantasmal Haste a waste of a slot since the 25 point trait and it do not stack together.
