So the lesson is: If you have low fps, go and buy Darksiders 2 then make sure to post all this at the forums to make any other player laugh. So brilliant.
I would rather stop buying other games, and save up the money to upgrade my PC to be able to run GW2 smoothly, what is not a bog deal to be honest.
I applaud you on your ability to not see the exaggeration in my post. For you and possible future readers of this post I will spell out what Ive done here and how it is meant to be humorous.
You see, myself and many others are frustrated with GW2 at the moment. As such, I took the opportunity to relate my outside GW2 life with my frustration thus creating humor. When you see that others are in a similar predicament and feel that they may be able to relate in a funny manner, generally people find it funny. The obvious answer is to save that money instead and upgrade…thus humorous again.

Yesterday I went out and bought Darksiders 2. I didnt want to, but I couldnt play GW2 so I had to fill my time. I just beat Darksiders 2 and it hit me….i never would have bought that game had it not been for this issue. This issue in combination with the lack of support on the issue from the company is ruining my dignity as a gamer. Are you happy now tech support? #fml #firstworldproblems
Please:
- Use paragraphs so it’s easier to see what you’re trying to say
- Provide what CPU, GPU, and RAM your computer has.
At this point it is a complete waste of time to post specs along with any post relating to FPS. Whats the benefit of doing so? So people can post more voo-doo fixes? No, when there are a million other posts just like this getting just as much help as this guy, there is literally no point. Sry, for raging, im obviously suffering from the same issue and have been for days now with nothing to comfort me but the automated email i get everytime i send my ticket in. I take what little happiness I can from it.
I’m trying to update window 7 right now and get 7-service pack 1 which I’m missing. I’m not sure if that’s the main reason for my fps not changing on either high or low settings.
Yeah I updated my windows 7 and it did nothing to change my fps. Not saying it was a bad idea, assuming updating is always a good idea. At this point my biggest complaint is still their advertised system requirements. Im frustrated enough with this that the phrase False Advertisement naturally comes up. I mean, while I am not trying to hate on the game or be one of those who demand their money back, I am looking for answers.
The fact that their only response to this so far has been the moderators post about Are Youre Drivers Up To Date? is really frustrating in itself. At least let us know their is a problem or update the system requirements and tell me my computer is bad (btw i put s h i t originally and it changed it to Kitten…lul). I could accept that and take steps to make this game playable for me. buhhhhh
Also, idk if this relates at all but I keep getting glitches where I can click to talk to AI but nothing happens and same thing for crafting tables?
I havent had this issue when talking to AIs but I havent even tried to do any crafting yet. I cant play the game for more than 5 minutes at a time without getting sad that this game makes my comps man parts feel small.
To me, the automated response email screams issues with the game. Here it is for those who havent emailed yet:
Response
IMPORTANT: YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL RESPONSE TO THIS E-MAIL UNLESS YOU UPDATE YOUR QUESTION.
Hello,
You are receiving this automated message based on information provided in your original submission that indicates that we may be able to answer your question with the information provided below.
We are currently looking into performance and low framerate issues that some players are experiencing despite having a system that exceeds the minimum requirements (http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1119). If this is affecting you, we would like to recommend the following suggestions:
Windows Service Pack
First, please make sure you have the latest Service Pack for Windows. Depending on which operating system you have, the latest version will vary:
7 = Service Pack 1
Vista = Service Pack 2
XP = Service Pack 3
You can check this by typing “Windows Update” in the “Search” bar of your “Start” menu. Please be sure to download all critical and important updates.
Video Card
Next, make sure that you have the latest video card drivers from your video card manufacturer (AMD, Nvidia, Intel). The websites in the links provided below have an auto-detect feature which will detect your graphics card and operating system and will locate the most recent driver for you.
AMD autodetect: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
Nvidia Autodetect: http://www.geforce.com/drivers
Intel Autodetect: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?lang=eng
Please note that both AMD and Nvidia have Beta drivers that you can install to see if these have any effect on your performance.
In addition, one of the many causes for low performance with high end graphics cards is that their PCi-Express GPU is plugged into a 1x|4x slot rather than a 16x slot. For players who have recently upgraded their video cards, we recommend ensuring that the GPU is plugged into the proper PCi-Express slot for maximum performance.
Settings
If you have an AMD or Nvidia graphics card, please see below for additional settings that you can try to tweak for improved performance:
For AMD cards:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Catalyst Control Center.”
2. Select “Preferences” and left-click “Advanced mode.”
3. Click the “Gaming” tab on left.
4. Select “3D Application Settings.”
5. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing” checkmark “Use application settings” but do not check “Morphological filtering.”
6. Under the heading “Anisotropic filter” checkmark “Use application settings.”
7. Under the heading “Tessellation” checkmark “AMD Optimized.”
8. Under the heading “Catalyst A.I.” move the slider to “Performance.”
9. Under the heading “Wait for vertical sync” move the slider to “On, unless application specifies.”
10. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing Mode” move the slider to “Performance.”
11. Click “Apply” to save these changes.
12. Start Guild Wars 2.
Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:
1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.
For Nvidia cards:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
2. Once opened, left-click on “3D settings” and select “Adjust image settings with preview.”
3. Select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider to “Performance.”
4. Select “Use the advanced 3D image settings” and left click on “Take me there.”
This should take you to the “Manage 3D Settings” window. Once here:
5. Change “Power Management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance.”
6. Change “Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “Single display performance mode.”
7. Change “Vertical Sync” to “Use the 3D application settings.”
8. Click “Apply” to save these changes.
9. Start Guild Wars 2.
Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:
1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz.”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Supersample” then back to “Native.”

If you are still unable to improve performance after trying the suggestions above, please keep an eye on the official forums (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech). Updates regarding performance and framerate issues will be posted there as soon as they become available.
I get that its launch time still and that there are a lot of players in the area. But, I played Star Wars: Old Republic during launch and could run the settings on medium to high most all the time. I wasnt getting amazing frames on the higher settings but I was more than happy to be at 30 fps. Thats more than playable for me. I mean, id be happy as all get out if I could just pull a constant 20fps on this game. If that were the case id just bite the bullet and spend the money to upgrade my hardware. But I cant justify upgrading right now when the settings change nothing.
My specs:
AMD Athlon™ II X4 640 Processor
Cpu speed: 3.0 GHz
Ram: 4.1 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series
Ive emailed tech support and received their automated response email even after updating my question twice. Ive followed all instructions for updating drivers and changed all settings in game to their lowest or off if possible. Maybe I expected to much from my comp but I am above all system requirements to run this game. Standing in a normal area I am getting around 9 fps. If I put my face at a wall I can get up to 25ish fps. The thing I find interesting is that even if I turn my in game settings to medium sets, I get the same fps as on low settings. There is literally no change in fps when doing this. If this is not a server side problem I fail to understand their logic in their system requirements. Why can I pass your requirements and still have so bad fps? I mean, I wouldnt have purchased the game like an idiot had I been below what was expected.
