Downed state […] increases the team coordination and skill required by a large amount.
Actually it’s quite the opposite — downed heavily favours the side with the greater numbers, not the greater skill.
Actual GW2 combat already takes plenty of skill, there’s no need to dilute and distract from it with a silly 4-skill mini-game.
Depends on how you play it. If the smaller team pulls together, they can easily overcome the downed barrier and use it to their advantage. In fact, That happened a lot of times while I was playing today. When you think about it, Downed makes no more difference in combat then Rez skills did in GW1, just now everyone can perform the same rez.
I disagree. Rez sig (standard pvp rez for gw1) brought someone back to life with full health in 3 seconds, and you didn’t have to be standing right next to the person who is usually in a huge aoe clusterkitten. Hehe I don’t mean kitten. Only downside was everyone only had one use on it, which was simply to make it fair. Now we get a ridiculous little game of cat and mouse that rewards zerg gameplay. Super fun.

A silly 4-skill mini game. Couldn’t have described it better myself.
I doubt anyone will read this, but I loved gw1 so much that it brings tears to my eyes and i have to post about it. I honestly loved every single little thing about gw1. Everything. Here is just a few things i can think of. These aren’t in any order btw.
1. Instanced areas and vanquishing-
So much fun back in the day when i would clear the whole map and feel like a beast. The areas loaded up in 2 seconds so it was never a problem. Oh, and I always ran people to areas for a small fee but i was making some big time bank back in the day from droks and desert mission runs. Free world can lick my nuts.
2. Level 20 cap-
When I made new characters, they would be 20 by the end of the day, not because i’m so pro, but because the game was about something more than getting max level. It allowed me to appreciate the stories of each campaign rather than worry about getting 80 asap.
3. Picking your own skills-
Simply made the game more customizable and fun. (imo)
4. HA, GvG, RA, TA, and ABs-
So much fun. These were the reasons i couldn’t wait to wake up and play guild wars. (Go kurzick. Boo suxons.)
5. MY MONK!!!!!!! I loved my monk more than anything and they stole it from me. They stole my precious. ;((
6. Titles – I mean before everyone and there mother had GWAMM. They were so cool back then.
7. Armor- max armor was simple to get, but the cool looking ones (especially obsidian) took quite a while, and of course you gotta dye that kitten black cause black is the most expensive!
I would keep playing gw1 to this day if my account wasn’t stolen. (it was by a friend and guildie too)
If Anet is wondering what to do next, I say make it more like the real guild wars.

I’ve never seen another game with downed state, and they do just fine. You want to know how to counter burst? Stun break and kite. What’s truly funny is downed state is almost essential for me in PvE, just because every boss I fight hits me like a truck, but this is PvP thread so i’ll keep it PvP. I have to run from every 2v1 because I have no cc. All down state does, in my opinion, is give more power to weaker and less skilled players. Then again, I like gw1 much better so maybe I’m a little biased. I guess I will just have to deal with it. Stinkin downed state :/
edit: I also wanted to ask why the hell all these warriors are destroying me in downed state and rallying themselves everytime before they get any kills. I don’t want to make a warrior to find out.

I completely agree with the edited post. I despise downed state. Every single day I lose at least four or five 2v1 fights because the first guy I down gets right back up, usually because thieves don’t have cc. All it does, in my opinion, is reward the below average players and take away from the dedicated and skilled ones.
@Star Ace I was in a pug, so their damage and skill vary. All I know is everyone is hacking on this guardian and he lasted for about 2 minutes until his team came to help. The title is a slight exaggeration. He was somehow managing to block my cc every 30 seconds also. With all the the points that you listed, Guardians still seem to have the defensive advantage simply because this is all point capturing pvp. I also have yet to see a premade team that doesn’t use a Guardian defensive build.
I would like to know why Anet would put in a class that can tank a whole team of 5 for 2 to 3 minutes in a game that is supposed to be all balanced classes. Elementalists can’t do this. Warriors can’t do this. Why are Guardians the only one?
