Bald - Wizard Hat

This is a really hard problem to solve for the devs.
I work in 3d and understand well the issue.
The point is eather:
1 make your character go bald when you equip a hat or helmet
2 having the original hairstyle under it but having big problems with clipping with most of the hairstyles
3 creating a standard hairstyle that goes with the head piece.
4 creating a variation for every hairstyle that conforms to the standard helmet and hats and then readapt every helmet and hat to have the same position on the head.
5 Creating hairstyles in pieces. Top middle and bottom part, so that each of these can be set up by the devs to adapt to each headpiece shape.
6 Giving the players the option to chose what they want. A simple check box to show/ unshow hair /beard /ears(for asura), and leave to the players to decide what they want.

The 1st option is not great but is the less time consuming. Used in most of the games with customization, it fully avoids clipping.
The 2nd option is not acceptable from an artistic point of view, especially with a community that doesn’t seem to accept even the smallest of stretching or clipping on charr armors…
With this option every hairstyle big enough would intersect with the hairpiece.
The 3rd option is good enough, it would make most of the people happy but some will complain about it not being the same hairstyle that they decided without the hat.
The 4th oprion is just not applicable this far into production. It means making variations for every hairstyles and having standard hat and helmet sizes and positions, something that has to be planned before starting the production of the game.
5th option, same as the 4th, too much time consuming and not appicable at htis point of the production since it has to be applied to every hairstyle already existing ingame.
THe 6th option to be applicable needs the devs, especially art direction, to trust some decision about the look of the characters into the hands of the players.
This is not easy since it would mean that a lot of people will make horrible things with this option for sure.
But overall the 6th option would be my favourite one, I really hate not seeing hair beard or ears on my characters when they should be there.

Hope this gives a good explenation about why your character with the wizard hat looks bald.

I believe that there is no hard problem to solve as long as your dedicated to solve it. I want Anet designers to answer this. there are plenty of easy solution but I want to know why they refuse to do it, maybe they have a reason,

I’m sure players would appreciate even a single static ‘Hat hair’ model for each race instead of every outfit’s peculiar attempt to hide all your hair whatsoever.

This seems like it would be the best solution. Having a hat on is going to really mess up your normal hairstyle, so reverting to some universal style is a good compromise. It would have to look better than the awkward baldness we get now, and it’s a lot easier to implement than making hat hair styles for every existing hair. It wouldn’t even need to match the real hair color, or look anything like the normal style. Just having something there is an improvement.

yes and they should let us dye the hair part if they want this approach

if I am your graphics designer Anet this is easy,

create an area outside the helm, hat, hair accessory that can overlap with hair, then any object that will be inside it will be transparent. then distort a little bit the inside of the hat to make an illusion like its pressing the hair inward, dont be lazy!!!!!

you can also do this

-remove the hair, nice its already what you did,
-then add the hat, say what you did it but you stop here!!!!!
-then identify if the hair is short or long, its easy to add a column in your database for this because your hairstyle is not that much and its static.
-then add default hair instead of their original hair, this will make sense since they wore the hat they need to remove any hairstyle they currently have even ponytails.

you can also do this

- increase the size of the hat and place and angle it in a position where it wont overlap so many graphics

you can also do this

- create a transparent half sphere above the head and distort the graphics that will fall inside it (somewhat like blackhole,. ) I dont know if its possible on your game engine
- put the hats, helm etc, above that can cover the distorted part.
- this method will get rid of most of the excess hair that will comeout of the hat. if you position it right you wont even notice.

I know that you already know the knowledge you need to know to solve this.
but you refuse to do it.

To the Devs please make the Wizard Hat retain the hair when equipped.

To the devs: Please make any piece of gear retain the hair, it just looks ridiculous when head pieces remove hair and/or beards.

devs please see how witches and wizard looks in anime and movies. they are not bald.

Anime? (shudders) You are aware that wizards and witches, along with their gear, are not an anime invention?

did I say anime only? I said anime and movies, read the whole post next time your welcome

I think they are too lazy to fix the graphic problem of hats, instead of putting it on top of the hair, they just change your hair into the headgear, and that is lazy. knowing gw2 devs, they have attention to details, I think they will fix those head gears (cough!! hair replacement)

Suggestion to improve the Adventure

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Personal Story – most new players are skipping this part and jumping directly to the core game, I suggest that putting a very cool reward on the end like [legendary material] is a rewarding way to play the story, it will also a stepping stone for new players to hunt the next legendary material like the gift of exploration

Dynamic Events – the coolest thing on MMO when GW2 was released back then, but now, it is ignored. merchants asking for escorts most likely ended up being left behind. I suggest to improve this feature, if you help a merchant or any dynamic events in the world, you will get a temporary unique item droprate buff for that region only. helping multiple events will stack the buff but going to another region will clear the buff, also, by helping the same region multiple times, the regional officer will give you a gift [skin, finisher, house, decoration, food, etc, legendary mats) and the citizens will call you hero if they saw you, kids offering flowers to you or idolise you. others even mimic you.

Wanted System – create a wanted system that lets player explore the world to search for a wanted criminal, helping dynamic quests will gain intel for the whereabouts of the criminal,
this system must sell the world of Tyria to the players, they must know the history, some scenery, some current events while searching for that wanted criminal. if possible, the criminal location and identity is random for each player and has a limit of 1 month. its possible also to gain intel by doing any stuff that promotes exploration. rewards must be sweet if you found the wanted. its also fun if your wanted criminal can escape the jail and find revenge on you while your exploring.

Exploration Relationship – if you explore the world or help a friend do wanted quest together , you will increase your relationship gauge with them. the more you travel together the more buffs you get. you can also accept the wanted rewards if you help a friend from start to finish instead from the one you have. having max relationship gauge will allow you to travel to that person location anytime.

Adventure to cover them all!!!
Create an adventure path that will force the player to experience all the content of GW2

I just want a happy adventure time with everyone

[Suggestion] Extended Gameplay

1. Remove Fix stat for Equips : Its much better to have a random stat on equipment. Make us feel we are superior to others. make us feel unique that we got that kind of stat.

2. Remove Class locked Equipment : Its more fun to make a gun elem or a mage thief.

3. Skill Customization : We must be able to customize the effect of our skills. like increase the damage of my Dragon’s Claw or decrease its cooldown. to make us feel our build is unique.

4. Drop Animation : One thing keeps me playing Diablo 3, If we get a precursor or an important item. Make that moment epic!!

5. Replay : This game is free to play and we are going in and out. like me, Im already out for 4 months and I need something that reminds me of the last thing I did.

6. Mounts : Mounts is not important in this game because it has a lot of WP scattered everywhere, But admit it, we all one to ride on a coolest mount we can ever had. Its more or like cars in the real world. not that important but its good to have

7. Item Hotkey : Make a hotkey for Items, Im tired of opening my inventory if i need to eat food or use potions

8. Home instance customization : I like what skyrim did in their expansion Heartfire. maybe this will be a great past time to some GW2 players like me designing our home instance

9. Reduce nonsense quests : a lot of quest are nonsense, why not make them “NOT” nonsense by giving it some sense like having a crafting mats after completing it. that way I will be doing it rather than ignoring it.

10. Random Treasures : Puzzle quest is so easy. You just have to youtube or google it if you cant make it. I know you can make it more dynamic. I suggest planting the reward chest to different location and give us a map to find the chest. map instruction should be dynamic. and the rewards should be useful or not should be satisfying like achievement points or skillpoint or equips with random stat

11. Make Fun underwater : underwater combat is not very appreciated here. I dont know why. If you go below. the world is awesome, the design, sometimes Im having a good time by just looking at them. pls add more content underwater. I suggest creating a huge city below (Atlantis)

12. GW Time : have your own clock in game and let our smartphones track on GW2 time lol. that’s funny ok next.

13. Fire/Ice/Earth/Wind Logic : yes, elemental attack. I dont like the fact that I can burn or damage with lightning the Earth elemental. cmon hes a rock.

14. The world is cruel : the real world is cruel. and that makes the balance. make bad people by having “Player kill” active if you go to the human territory and your not a human. lol that would be awesome. thats why you call it guild wars. its a war lol.
well you have also the option to let him live if your a good guy. its only an option to kill someone not a task

This is it. the final suggestion.!!!

15. Bounty!!!! – Your bounty increase as you kill important players or NPC . like killing the queen of humans? well better be prepared for the guards. suit you gears and allies to kill her and your bounty will increase. but beware of your head. because other players (bounty hunters) is off to kill you anytime. but dont give bounty hunter a clue like making the font color of the killer name RED. thats stupid. make them real bounty hunters. make them read stories about the killer. analyze the killer. where does the killer last spawn? if the killer doesnt log in then they should think of a price like he sleep in the road and guards caught him now hes on jail

Hope this post will reach Anet. thanks for reading guys, have fun

New games in 2014. can GW2 keep up?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bugnutin.1957

A lot of producers and developers announce already their trump card for 2014.
some of it are the FF:
- Diablo 3 : ROS
- Infamous : Second Son
- Dark Souls 2
- Watch Dog
- WildStar
- and the mortal enemy of GW2 : The Elder Scrolls Online.

TESO is always compared to GW2 because they have the same mechanics.
I already played their BETA and I feel that Im still on Tyria. I feel like GW2 is being cloned. But then a lot of players are pushing that game so hard. So how can Arenanet keep GW2 on the top?

This is my suggestion:
- Release an EPIC dragon!!!!!! (cuz TESO dont have it and have it drop a precursor)
- Free server transfer on their release dates (admit it, we need it)
- Make the Quests outside the town more interesting and rewarding. (no one does them now so this is the time to make them rewarding and force us to do them)
- Make a treasure hunting gameplay. (boss drop a map where they hide their treasure, thi is fun!!!)
- Make new skills and new weapons.
- Make town costumes wearable in battle. (this is requested a lot of times)
- Make those minis useful by having a buff when they are out or pick loots
- MOUNTS!!!! hell yeah this will be fun!!
- Release the Kraken!!!! an epic underwater combat!!!
- Living story was good, but if you miss one episode you feel disconnected already. how about an ability to replay the lost episode with reduce reward?

Thats all I think. if you guys have other idea how this game keeps up in 2014 please tell arenanet
