Apart from a few new animations: what would 2H axe add to the game that isn’t already there? I mean, do you see a missing mechanic due to 2H axes not being implemented?
Axes inflict bleeding and vulnerability, they are not as dense as a mallet and so stunning wouldn’t be feasible, but they could root targets in place with big swings to the legs.
Spears, javelins, halberds, tridants, theyre all sticks with pointy ends (Halberd being kinda axey, though). They can all be classed under spear because that would be their family group.
You guys seem to choose the most random weapons to fall back on for argument sake. Nukes? Glaives? Nunchuks? Ninja stars? What?
The actual item (Axe) already exists. I don’t think it would take a genius to go “Hey, what if we made the axe a bit larger?”
By the logic in this thread it would seem appropriate to just remove all 2h variants because, hey, they’re arbitrary.
The game has no polearms, crossbows, javelins, throwing stars and tactical nukes either. So?
I do not see we should have all weapons concieved to man unlocked here. We charge at flamethrowers with our swords in hand… people run through meteor showers and stand in the middle fighting daggers vs staff… I see people fighting cannons with arrows… There is quite a big variety already.
Let’s wait for the new and improved cloaked trinity flagship and enter the stealth era..
Primarily i see great-axes as a way to fill in the ‘gap’ in terms of weapons, just as Revenant filled in the ‘gap’ in terms of armor class numbers.
We have 1 handed and 2 handed bullet weapons (pistol and rifle)
we have 1 handed and 2 handed swords (sword and greatsword – not counting daggers)
we have 1 handed and 2 handed blunt weapons (mace and hammer)
we have 1 handed and 2 handed magical weapons (scepter and staff)
We have a 1 handed axe… despite the warrior icon itself showing a great-axe.so it would be awesome to see them have a great-axe as one of the features for the next xpac. (and no i’m not going into ‘double torches’ or ‘double warhorns’ as that would be utterly silly even for anet. and double shields has its own argument line.)
Exactly, all these one handed variants with 2h counterparts except for axes.
“The game has no polearms, crossbows, javelins, throwing stars and tactical nukes either. So?”
Polearms and javelins are both spears, which exist.
Rifles would be the crossbow version, and tactical nukes is just silly.
Are two hander Axe weapons banned in China?
China has all sorts of weapons, why would an axe which is related to a sword or mace be banned?
It’s like banning apples, out of every round shaped fruit.
“Well as it has been anounced the expansion will NOT bring any new weapons”
But that’s the thing though, 2h axes should’ve really been implemented in the game from the beginning as it’s pretty standard battleweapon.
Things I would consider to be “additions” would be whips, fist weapons, and anything else foreign. Axes already exist as a 1h, so their 2h counterpart should really be in the game.
So I’ve come over to this game from another, for reasons, and one of the key things I’ve noticed as playing the warrior archetype is the lack of 2h axes.
They have:
1h swords, 2h swords
1h maces, 2h hammers
1h pistols, 2h rifles
1h scepters, 2h staffs
1h axes, but no 2h axes?
I would think that the biggest (if not contending with the greatsword) niche for warriors would be the battle axe. They are brutal, versatile, designed for cleaving and hacking and most if not all fantasy RPG’s have had 2h battle axes in their games. This doesn’t just include online, or even video games for that matter. Role playing and board games have always included the hardy warrior with his trusty axe.
How would Gimli feel if there were no 2h axes? I’m sure he would let somebody toss him over in his own grave for that one.
