The one thing I find myself missing the most from GW2 is story. I might be alone in this, but I really loved the story and the mission types in GW1 – how it would move you along to the next place, how it was a pretty straightforward story that would progress you through the game. I feel that GW2 is pretty lacking in that. Personal Story is fun, but it’s not the same. It feels more like running back and forth than any progressive story.
Missions were great, especially with the bonus to achieve and hard mode too, and unlike Personal Story they had replay value too, not just for hard mode or Zaishen but for playing with guildies, friends and even pugs!
Personal Story feels like a step backward to me, whats the point of it in an MMO?

As someone who played GW1 since beta and never got tired of it, I’ll post here too before this thread gets locked.
GW2 is an ok game but a disappointment for me as a GW1 player, and not a game I’d choose to play for months or years as I did with GW1, its simply missing too many features I loved about the original and unlike GW1 there is very little to do in GW2 with guilds and friends.

5 things I loved about GW1 (Absent in GW2)
1. Missions. I loved playing missions with guildies and friends in normal mode and hard mode. There was always somedbody that needed a hand with them and alot of them were fun to play as a guild.
2. Skills. Lots of skills and lots of builds, sure you could create some incredibly terrible builds but that was all part of the fun. Being able to save your skills as a template was such a great feature and added so much diversity to the game. With GW2 we’re stuck with many skills we can’t even change, the lack of freedom is galling.
3. Memorable NPC’s. GW1 had so many memorable NPC’s (View them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fIrtwBFLU0 ), fans speculating the fate of Gwen lasted for years, then there was Rurik, the Lich Lord, Evennia, Glint, Varesh, Kilroy Stonekin and King Jalis Ironhammer to name but a few.
The only NPC’s I remember from GW2 are Destiny’s Edge (Who squabbled alot), Trahearne (Who I’d rather forget), and Mad King Thorn who I loved in GW2 but he’s from GW1!
4. Signet of capture. I loved capturing elite skills, having to go to some hard to reach places to capture them added to the sense of achievement, unfortunately there’s none of that in GW2.
5. Guild halls. Not just for GvG but the social aspect too, plus it was always an easy place to go to sell stuff or be afk , yes I know Guild halls are supposedly going to be introduced at some point but the reasoning why they weren’t included at release escapes me.
There are alot more features I miss absent from GW1 but those are my top 5.

It was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me, I’ve barely logged into to the game since the introduction of ascended gear and have lost interest.
Most of my guild have taken a break from GW2 too, we were a Guild Wars 1 guild that played GW1 avidly from 2005 – 2012 and waited eagerly for the sequel.
Unfortunately the sequel was a disappointment to most of us, I enjoyed levelling up to level 80, and doing most of the dungeons, yet the flawed introduction of ascended gear was just too much, since then I tried to level up alts but it just seems a chore, so now I’m happy to take a break and hope the game improves, though tbh I highly doubt it.

Guild Ranks And Roles Restructured
Visit our ranks page to view our ranks and roles, many roles have been removed, whilst older ranks have been reintroduced.
The difference between ranks and roles is that roles you can pick anytime you want, ranks however are dynamic, new members begin as an Acoltye, progress to Page, advance to Squire and then become knighted thus becoming a Knight.
We use a mentorship program for this, with Knights taking on Squires, role-playing with them and teaching them our lore, charter and values. Finally once a Knight can teach a Squire no more, a Squire is knighted in game!
Also included is the rank of Crusader, only obtainable by those who have won all our guild awards!

Guild Background: Forever Knights formed in 2000 AD originally as an order of holy crusaders participating in Vampire the Masquerade Redemption. During that time, strong bonds were forged and a hardcore group of gamers have adventured in various online games together ever since.
In 2002 the Forever Knights sought a new gaming experience and to Neverwinter Nights they journeyed. With its rich role-playing environment it was here that much our lore that remains today was born.
In 2005 Forever Knights formed in Guild Wars and there they won much acclaim, and did become the first PvE/RP guild to gain the title of guild of the week, this was the first of their many great achievements in Guild Wars. Scores of new members joined during this time and great lasting companionship among knights flourished.
2010 saw Forever Knights begin to play other online games including Age of Conan and Lord Of The Rings Online, whilst ever looking forward to the release of Guild Wars 2.
Yet what the future holds we can only imagine, what however is certain is the Forever Knights shall continue to live by its code of honour and seek to inspire others wherever they roam…
Role-Play Requirements: New applicants who successfully pass our application form and comply with our rules join Forever Knights on a trial basis gaining the role of an acolyte. During that time they are required to add a biography to their character(s) as we take a player’s depth of character and the ability to role-play seriously.
Our purpose is to adventure and role-play with mature minded gamers as we explore together the Guild Wars 2 universe, while most importantly of all, having a great time in doing so!
Story Arcs: Forever Knights have many ever evolving guild centred storylines and plots, each is engineered to immerse your character in role-play and designed to share the adventure with those around you! Our very name is from a story arc itself, but look deeper and you’ll find we are so much more…
